  • Worthless Coaching

I did the free trial. The app itself has a nice interface. I like the categorization of foods and the overall concept. However the “coaches” are only bots not real people. The Bot coaches are also worthless. They give generic advice and don’t respond to questions. Noom claims they are “real people”, perhaps real people who click send on automated messages without reading what participants say? I will not be paying for the “program” - not worth the money. I will use their food tracker.

My lack of success and interactions with Noom are entirely my fault. Lots going on. Flu and cold and more serious health concerns as well. Strict lecture from doctor - as usual, it’s nothing new - but changes now make it imparitive I pay attention.

Tough to cancel. Would not recommend.
  • Complete waste of time and money.

The only difference between this program and weight watchers is, you are basically paying a robot app to tell you to count your calories and not obsess about your weight by standing on a scale. The “coach” they say you have is nothing but an automated response system. Save your money and get my fitness pal.
  • Like It, But It’s Erasing My Steps

The app is great for logging what I eat, but the app has a problem where it’s resetting the amount of steps I’ve taken. When the next day starts, my step count from the previous day goes back to zero even though I exceeded the goal. This is pretty annoying and I hope it can be fixed.
  • Disappointing

I have used several nutrition logging apps to lose weight and this falls very short. The biggest drawback for me is that the app doesn’t sync between devices. There are some things I like to log using my iPad and some using my iPhone. For most logging, I like to use my iPad, but some things-like scanning a bar code - are better suited for my iPhone. Sometimes it’s better to use a website, too. I see the latest update includes a website but I am not sure that it syncs. Being able to log everything is a huge part of this approach so it is a significant drawback. There is no way I would enter the same thing twice. The philosophical approach used by Noom is sensible and follows principles of change theory to guide users so I am confident that people will lose weight if they use it. How they distinguish between red, yellow, and green food is not always apparent or easy to use. There are better plans with good apps. My favorite is MyNetDiary.
  • The weight loss app for people who love puns

This app is very light humored. It compares your temptations to an elephant that you are trying to train. It has cute little animal cartoons when you complete your day. I absolutely love it. I wake up every morning excited to see what piece of knowledge they will give me. I also really appreciate having someone keeping me accountable as I check in with them regularly. Knowing that someone is able to view each item I log really helps to keep me making good choices. If you finally want to change your mindset about weightless, give it a shot. If you’re good humored and enjoy their silly little comments, this app can really help you go far.
  • Misleading promotion.

I signed up because I was under the impression I’d be charged monthly and was charged for the entire year. You could easily use a calorie counting app for free and be better off. Now I’m trying to disputed a charge with a company with no phone number and going nowhere with them.
  • Poor layout, and then make it extremely difficult to cancel your account.

The app is not intuitive. It has an awkward layout and isn’t user friendly. The last day of the trial, I go to cancel my account because I am unimpressed and didn’t find the app useful, but there is literally no way to access it from the app. They force you to go to a browser version and make you log in again. You can’t cancel your subscription without clicking on the “help” button and they manually do it. Of course, they take your money and refuse to refund it after making the process purposefully difficult. It’s very disingenuous and I don’t appreciate it. If you believe in your product, make it easy for people to get out.

I have found the app to be very beneficial in weight loss. The psych tips and tricks have helped me so much along the way. I have been on the program for a month now and have lost 18 pounds. I have learned a lot about myself and by eating habits and how to build new ones. It gets easier every day. I have been on many diets in the past such as NutriSystem, weight watchers, and TOPS. While the others were helpful for a time, Noom is sustainable for life. I also love the sense of humor throughout the daily readings!
