Beats history

Probably every modern person has heard about the Beats company, or rather, about the headphones it produces. As you may have guessed, today we will talk about the history of the audio giant.

To begin with, it's worth talking about how Beats came about and who created it. Beats Electronics was founded in 2006 by Jimmy Iovine, head of the board of directors of the major record label Interscope, and rapper Andre Young, better known to the general public as Dr. Dre.

Partner in the production of the first model called Beats by Dr. Dre became another US manufacturer of electronics and accessories, Monster Cable, whose contract was terminated only in 2012.

Beats initially positioned their headphones as a luxury product, putting on the same Beats by Dr. Dre has a $ 350 price tag. At that time, a non-standard move was the collaboration with cult celebrities to release branded headphones. A breakthrough was the 2009 Heart Beats by Lady gaga , followed by Beats gadgets from celebrities such as David Guetta, Lebron james , Justin Bieber, Sean Coomes and Nikki Minaj. And how many hip-hop figures were involved in various commercials of the company!

In 2011 HTC, which is then one of the market leaders Android – smartphones buys 50% of the shares of Beats, however, under the terms of the contract, HTC they do not receive anything other than actually acquired assets and rights to use Beats technology on their smartphones. In short, HTC had no authority whatsoever to run Beats. As soon as the contract expired (January 2012) with Monster Cable, who was in charge of design and production, Beats took over the technology part of the business. In addition to ending its partnership with Monster Cable, 2012 also saw the release of the first Beats Pill signature speaker. The very next year HTC for 265 million sells back the last 25% of its shares in Beats, and 2014 was marked by the fact that Beats for an incredible $ 3 billion completely went under the wing Apple, and $ 1 billion of this amount was received personally by Dr. Dre.

However, apart from partnerships with HTC and Apple, Beats managed to work with HP, jointly releasing a limited version of the HP Envy laptop in 2009. Beats even collaborated with automakers, including Chrysler, Dodge and Fiat.

Everyone knows and respects the Beats company today, but this was not always the case. Brand awareness was achieved primarily through massive, expensive and often aggressive advertising campaigns. For example, at the London Olympics, Beats sent their headphones to hotels with British athletes for free.
