Thoughts on the results of two weeks with a relatively new model of wireless headphones.
Upon the return of the QC30 to the owner, my feelings could not be called pleasant, I realized that I was again powerless in front of the noise of the subway, which becomes an almost daily annoying factor. But nothing can be done about it yet. Apparently, these thoughts were reflected on my face at the moment of meeting and, probably, my sad look prompted my friend to give me his sports headphones for a while. In this short article I want to share my impressions of using the Bose SoundSport Pulse.
Design and ergonomics
The sporty character of the headphones is realized in the first few minutes of use. In comparison with the QC30, the headphones are absolutely weightless, only sometimes they are reminiscent of a wire and a clothespin in contact with the skin for attaching to clothes. By the way, it is a convenient device, attached and you don’t worry that the headphones will fly off your neck while you are not listening to music. In addition to the clothespin on the wire, there is also a remote control with sound controls and an answer / pause button in playback. As Sergei Kuzmin wrote in his review, NFC is built into the remote control for quick connection with a smartphone.
According to my impressions, the attachments I received are not much different from those used in the QC30 model, except for the need to slightly twist the attachments. The headphones stay firmly in your ears, as it should be in sports models. From the point of view of aesthetic perception, at first the headphone case seemed rather bulky and bulging out of the ear too much, but then it stopped paying attention. Moreover, the main electronic filling is concentrated in this part.
Sound
It should be noted that the sound is more detailed, again, compared to the previous model from Bose. Definitely a livelier picture, balanced or something. And it was on the example of SoundSport Pulse that an understanding came about at what points the sound is slightly cut off on the model with noise reduction. There is no such thing here, full and clear sound … Until you enter a noisy room or the subway. Yes, I'm talking about him again, but my work (and often weekends) days start with public transport, nothing can be done, the fastest way to get to work. And here the headphones, as expected, show themselves not from the best side, even if there is no need to significantly increase the volume level, but external noise significantly changes the sound, which, of course, is upsetting, but you cannot demand such a level of noise isolation from a sports model. Otherwise, there are no complaints about the sound.
Features:
Model equipped with a measurement sensor ChSV Heart rate, which is located in the left earpiece. I do not presume to argue about the accuracy of the sensor, but the results were literally several divisions different from those on the Mi Band. It is worth mentioning that the sensor is connected automatically, and not by a separate device, as in iOS. It can be connected to apps like RunTastic, Runkeeper, Endomondo and more. The metrics are displayed in the Connect app directly while listening.
The SoundSport Pulse is 'sweat and water-resistant', so why not a sports solution? So you can not be afraid of possible precipitation and feel free to go jogging / training. I was pleased with the range, according to my impressions, the sports model surpasses the same QC30 in this parameter, you can safely move to the next room, the sound does not disappear. The sensations from listening are the most positive, long-term music sessions do not cause any discomfort.
Autonomy
In this aspect, the headphones upset me, five hours of operation from a single charge is not enough, in my opinion. On the other hand, if you keep the scenario of using the model in mind, then there is hardly a large number of people willing to practice for more than three hours in a row. But you still have to remember every time before leaving the house if the headphones are charged. To Bose's credit, the model includes a fast charge option, 15 minutes is enough for an hour of listening.
conclusions
For those actively involved in sports, it is very important to be able not to be distracted by external stimuli (music, voices, noise outside the window, etc.), to focus on the process and, if possible, listen to your favorite music. This is where the SoundSport Pulse can help you 100%, but don't expect the wonders of noise isolation from them. Thus, the buyer of headphones will expect: clear sound with good detail, lightweight, almost weightless, but securely fitting headphones, subjectively well, a very unusual design, short operating time from one battery. I would recommend these headphones to those who like running or cycling. The price positioning (15-16 thousand) is still outside my comfort zone, but the first signs of future changes can already be traced.
