It so happened that in the new HTC One A9, the company again changed its views on the main camera. Why again? Because HTC has had a lot of such throwing in recent years: One M7, One M8, One M9 and One M9 Plus – in each smartphone they changed something about the camera or even cameras, trying again and again find a balance. Therefore, you should not be surprised at the changes in the next device. What has changed in the camera of the new HTC One A9?
Main camera specifications in HTC One A9
- Resolution 13 megapixels
- Back-illuminated matrix sensor (BSI)
- Autofocus
- F / 2.0 aperture
- Focal length 27.9 mm
- Optical Stabilization System (OIS)
- Dual LED flash in different tones
- 1080p video recording
As you can see, for a smartphone from HTC the characteristics are atypical, previously in the One line we had either ultrapixel cameras with a low resolution or 20-megapixel ones. The optical stabilization system HTC did not please before. Here, in the One A9, OIS is clearly visible, even when you just hold the smartphone with the camera on. When recording video, I think stabilization will also play an important role. The move away from the light-sensitive ultrapixel camera is partially offset by f / 2.0.
The camera interface does not differ too seriously from that of previous smartphones with Sense 7, the main difference is that the manual shooting mode was taken to a separate item. Now, to turn it on, just open the mode menu (main camera, front camera, and so on).
What about the quality of the photos? As I wrote in my first glance at HTC One A9, I had the opportunity to shoot an engineering sample, and that was quite a bit, so I would not draw any conclusions, even preliminary ones, based on the obtained images.
When shooting, it is noticeable how the optical stabilization system compensates for the shake of the smartphone in the hands, the focusing speed is good, not instantaneous, as in LG G4, but by eye faster than in HTC One M9 and M9 Plus. Let's talk about the rest in the full review of the device.
As for the front camera, everything is familiar here for HTC – an ultrapixel module with a resolution of 4 (UP, MP? I don't know how to write better), a wide-angle lens (focal length 24.7 mm), f / 2.0 , sensor with backlit matrix illumination (BSI). The quality of the photos is not bad, the front camera in HTC One A9 will open up in low light conditions: in the evening, when shooting indoors, in cloudy weather, and so on.
There will be no conclusions based on the results, I just wanted to show you examples of shots from an engineering sample and briefly talk about the main characteristics of the cameras in HTC One A9. All details, as usual, in the smartphone review, coming soon!
