Are you ready to pay extra for your favorite body color in your smartphone, or are you absolutely indifferent to any colors?
The other day a friend told a wonderful story about buying a new phone. Let's omit the model in this case (it's not an iPhone, if anything), it doesn't matter, the facts are more important. His friend was selling the device he needed 30% cheaper than the usual retail price (they gave it, it turned out to be not needed), but the color of the model was gold, and the friend is not a big fan of such a color. But the difference in price was significant, so he still took the gold smartphone.
And so I thought, how important is the color of the device for an ordinary buyer? How much is he willing to overpay for the color he needs if it is not included in the basic configuration? Or vice versa: how big should the price difference be for a person to refuse the desired color?
For me, color plays an important role in the perception of the device, traditionally I prefer a combination of white and silver. If I were choosing a smartphone from the top segment, I would be ready to pay 1,5-2,000 extra for the desired color, but not more. On the other hand, I simply would not take a smartphone of a different color if the one I needed was not available. However, if I were offered a 30% discount for the same device, but in gold color, then perhaps I would agree, in the end you can always put it in a case and not bathe.
What would you do, dear readers? Are you willing to pay extra for a specific color in your phone if it costs more? And at what discount would you agree to any color? What if it was Rose Gold? ?
