HTC 11 (although they will call it, apparently, somehow differently – however, let's agree that in the future we will use just such a wording) will almost certainly be announced within the next year, so I have put together all the facts, rumors, news and speculation regarding the date of the announcement, the cost and characteristics of the next flagship HTC.
HTC 10 was made in the best traditions of the company: it had a corporate design, a beautiful Android – interface and excellent audio capabilities. That is why it is interesting to expect a new top-end smartphone from Taiwanese. However, rumors vary widely: while some sources claim that the next flagship HTC will be named Note Ocean, others say that the company will remain true to itself and still name this device HTC 11. Some even claim that HTC 11 and Ocean Note are two separate products from different price categories, which will be launched simultaneously. The company itself does not comment on this, but in a recent interview with Engadget, the senior executive director of the smartphone division HTC Chiling Chang assured that we will not see a smartphone called HTC 11 this year. .
Date of announcement
Currently, there is no exact information about when HTC will present the next generation of the top smartphone, but if you look at the dates of the announcement of the predecessors, it becomes obvious that the presentation of the Taiwanese company is not far off:
- HTC 10 – 12 April 2016
- HTC One M9 – March 1, 2015
- HTC One M8 – March 25, 2014
- HTC One M7 – 19 February 2013
Specifications
As usual, when we talk about updating one or another line of smartphones of any manufacturer, we mean updating most of its hardware components. Based on the latest 'leaks', HTC 11 will receive the following stuffing:
- 5.5-inch QHD display
- Chipset Qualcomm Snapdragon 835
- Quick Charge 4.0 support
- 8 GB of RAM
- 256 GB storage
- 12MP dual main camera
- Eight megapixel front camera
- Non-removable battery 3700 mAh
Software
Most likely HTC 11 will be running Android 7.0 Nougat. One of the reasons for this is that Nougat has already received the 'ten' from HTC, despite the initial launch with Android Marshmallow.
Google unveiled the current version of its mobile operating system in March last year, and if in 2017 the announcement dates of the main products HTC and Google at least roughly coincide with last year's, then even if HTC 11 are announced earlier than the mysterious Android O, you shouldn't expect a new OS to appear on a Taiwanese smartphone. The reason is simple – as we know, Google is not particularly in a hurry to share new firmware with third-party manufacturers, and manufacturers, in turn, are in no hurry to adapt those same firmware for their devices.
Price
Unfortunately, absolutely nothing is known about the cost of HTC 11, but, as in the case of the date of the announcement, we can build guesses based on data on the company's pricing policy in previous years:
- HTC 10 – 710 dollars
- HTC One M9 – $ 725
- HTC One M8 – $ 660
- HTC One M7 – $ 685
One thing is for sure: top smartphones HTC are clearly not cheap, and a newcomer will cost in the range of $ 620 to $ 750 (37,000-45,000 rubles).
Conclusion
Although the announcement of HTC 11 is very close, there is very little information about the smartphone, and given the ambiguous history of the company in terms of the flagships it produces, it is impossible to say with certainty whether it is worth waiting for HTC 11 or turning your attention to better products of competitors.
