Four chips Android 5 Lollipop

I wanted to write five facts about the fifth 'android', it would have been a sonorous title for the note, but then I stopped and thought – 'why bother with any additional things for the sake of the number in the title?' In this short article, I want to tell you about four features of the operating system Android. I really like each of the chips, I got used to them in just a month and can no longer imagine using a smartphone without them.

Material Design

At first, Material Design seems a bit too flat, then it is too pale and monotonous, then it is boring, and then you just get used to it and no longer imagine another OS design. I'm not just talking about the icon pack and notification cards, but the MT style in general. This general severity and at the same time simplicity, calm colors, where each color is slightly muted, slightly deliberate lightness of the interface, where there are no small buttons and any small elements – all this makes Material Design convenient, and this is damn important in the operating system interface. You can blame Google for the abrupt transition and the fact that most of the programs on Play are still executed in the old design, but it is definitely impossible to say that the company took the wrong step. Sooner or later, all important software will be updated, and the transition Android to MaterialDesign is a timely and competent step.

Lock screen notification cards

The expression 'everything is brilliant – just' fits perfectly with the new notification system Android 5.0 on the lock screen. Firstly, due to their size, notification cards located one after another, due to their size, provide not only short information about each event, but also allow, at least roughly, to understand what is there. Secondly, by clicking on the card you immediately (bingo) go to the application that sent this notification to the screen, this is very convenient.

Notification curtain

The notification panel, aka the 'shutter', in Android 5.0 is made, in my opinion, very convenient. Yes, there were options with two tabs, with scrolling through pages and with calling one menu from another window, I'm talking about the two basic parts of this panel – switches and notifications. The switches contain buttons for turning on and off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and other interfaces, some of the manufacturers have a button for activating a flashlight (flash) or something else. Notifications is a panel where cards with new events are collected. As soon as the manufacturers did not compose these two panels in their skins, in the end Google did the best: you pull the 'curtain' and first see the notifications, if any, and then pull again and get access to the switch panel. Very simple, very clear and fast.

Smart Lock

Not advertised and therefore not very popular, but if you did not know about it and suddenly found out, it will help you a lot in the future. The bottom line is that you can set up conditions under which the smartphone does not need to be unlocked with a graphic key, pin code or just a password, while at any time when the conditions are not met – the smartphone requires unlocking. There are options with NFC tags, with a blueooth clock, but personally I use it with coordinates. I have several addresses (home and office), where Smart Lock allows you not to unlock the device, in all other places, respectively, you need to enter a pattern.
