Four new features debuting at MWC 2016

At MWC 2016, many new devices were shown that will soon fall into the hands of buyers, but in this article, let's take a closer look at a few technologies announced at the event. The innovations are related to the camera, battery and device design. Which ones do you think are the future?

1. Oppo super fast charging technology

Oppo did not show any new smartphones at MWC, instead they announced a new proprietary image stabilization technology as well as a new smartphone battery charging technology. The latter is called Super VOOC and is especially important as it could revolutionize the way we charge our devices. Oppo promises that with Super VOOC, you can fully charge a 2500mAh battery in 15 minutes, while using both MicroUSB and USB Type-C. These results are said to be achieved thanks to a low voltage pulsed charging system and a customized battery (Oppo hasn't clarified exactly what that means). At the moment Oppo cannot say when we will be able to buy smartphones equipped with Super VOOC, perhaps this moment is not so far away. Of course, Oppo phones will be the first to have the technology, but if it's as good as people say it is, other companies might want to license it to use it in their devices. We hope it will be so, and one day we will be able to charge smartphones in just 15 minutes – isn't it great?

2. Modular design LG G5

The G5 shows a radical departure from its predecessor flagships LG thanks to its metal and modular design. The back cover of the device including the battery can be easily replaced – you can use another battery or one of the new accessories LG specially designed for the G5, including an extended photo module (with a shutter button, zoom control and its own 1200 mAh battery) , or a detachable Hi-Fi DAC in collaboration with Bang & Olufsen. LG is not the first company to take on the idea of a modular phone (remember Google's Project Ara), but the first to use it in a flagship smartphone that is supposed to blow up the market. Looking forward to April.

3. Samsung Dual Pixel autofocus technology

The Galaxy S7 and S7 edge may not differ much from the Galaxy S6 series, but they have a number of important and new features. For example, Samsung has completely changed the main camera: instead of a 16 MP camera with phase detection autofocus in the Galaxy S7 12 MP, a module with a large pixel size and Dual Pixel autofocus technology. Until now, we've only seen this feature in DSLRs (as in some Canon models), so it's a novelty in the smartphone world. Unlike phase detection autofocus, which uses 5% to 10% of the pixels to focus, Dual Pixel technology uses all of them (100%) to focus. This should work great with moving objects or at night. Of course, the camera needs to be thoroughly tested, but technology is quite capable of becoming the height to which they will strive.

4. Wide angle main camera in LG G5

LG The G5 isn't the first phone with a dual rear camera, so what's the deal? The fact that one of the cameras is regular, 16 MP with a 78-degree lens (average for a smartphone), and the second is 8 MP with a super-wide 135-degree lens (much wider than the camera lens in any other smartphone, and even wider. than the viewing angle of the human eye, which is about 114 degrees). So the owners of the new flagship LG will be able to take wide-angle shots (albeit only 8 MP) without additional accessories.
