In Barcelona, I forgot my main SIM card, and when I returned home I could not quickly replace it. I was without communication for two days and I would like to share my impressions of this short but unforgettable period.
Last week I returned from Barcelona, but when it came time to insert the Moscow SIM card into my iPhone, I realized that I couldn't find it. Not in your pockets, not in your wallet, anywhere. I was not upset for a long time, after all, such situations have already happened before. Last time in Sheremetyevo, I just went to the nearest Megafon salon (I used it then) and changed the card in five minutes.
But this time we flew to Domodedovo. However, I did not suspect any trick, in the end it is also a large airport, for sure there will be MTS salons (I have already returned to this operator). But, to my surprise, there was not a single operator's saloon on the territory, only a few stands with new SIM cards.
And immediately a huge number of problems were revealed. Firstly, I could not call my relatives to say that I had a successful flight. Secondly, I could not call Uber, since it was also tied to my number. Thirdly, I could not log into my Internet bank, because there was an authorization by SMS code.
By the way, about the Internet bank. On the trip, I ran into the credit card limit and wanted to expand it (I have a limit on purchases, this is done for safety). However, this required a confirmation SMS, but she could not come, since the iPhone had a local SIM card. I was thinking of transferring money to a debit card from another card that was not with me, however .. this operation also required an SMS code from me. I wrote to Tinkoff Bank's chat and asked to expand the limit, however, to confirm authorization, they required an SMS code. The first time the bank failed me. By the way, if you find yourself in the same situation, do not write to the chat, immediately contact them in a personal in social networks, they will be able to help.
Then I got out in a very elegant way. The Spaniards in the cafe had a terminal with PayPass support, I asked permission to pay for the purchase using Apple Pay. And they hadn't even heard of him. For a long time I have not seen so much surprise after paying with a phone, I begin to understand why everyone likes to pay with an iPhone so much, it's all the same in the wow effect, and not in convenience.
But let's get back to my return to Moscow. I decided to connect to the local Wi-Fi in order to use it to call Uber. But here's the bad luck, for authorization via Wi-Fi you also needed a SIM card with an SMS code. Fortunately, I flew in with a friend, asked her to give me the internet, ordered a car, but the first driver canceled the order, apparently because he could not get through to me. I managed to call the second driver from my friend's number, and he eventually took me home.
I was tired after the trip and wanted to be at home for a day. I really like to deal with finances at the beginning of the month, for me it is such a kind of vacation. So you received your salary, threw it on a card, paid for housing and communal services and the Internet, sent a payment to close a credit card, put something aside for a deposit, and then you look and count how much money is left, plan how to distribute it for a month, etc. However, to enter the Internet bank on your computer, you again need the cherished SMS. As a result, I freaked out, went to our Mega Teply Stan, got the coveted SIM card and could not wait for it to be activated (it takes about 10 minutes).
I was very worried that I missed many important calls, however, apart from SMS messages from banks and promotional offers from stores, nothing came. It's amazing how many aspects of our life are tied to a mobile phone, from banks to taxis, and without a connection you feel very uncomfortable.
And shame on MTS, which cannot supply a full-fledged salon in Domodedovo!
