Friday column number 116. About congratulations

How pleasant is it to receive congratulations, by voice or text?

Since I started working for Mobile-Review, on my birthday and New Year, I began to receive significantly more congratulations from colleagues, company representatives, readers and other people. Someone congratulates with a call, someone with an SMS or a message on social networks. And today I would like to dispel one very popular myth: for some reason it is believed that congratulations 'for show' are made precisely by the text, they say, a person saw a birthday notification and went to write a message to the birthday man. This criticism is partly fair, but it is far from always true.

Friday column number 116. About congratulations

With the advent of social networks, your date of birth has ceased to be a secret or information only for close people, now anyone you know from Facebook or VKontakte can see it (if you do not deliberately hide these numbers). Accordingly, the number of congratulations increases significantly. So, imagine if each of them called instead of a few words of congratulations? Would you consider such a congratulation more sincere? It seems to me that by the end you would just get tired of such a number of calls, however, this is just my opinion, it is possible that I am wrong.

At the same time, each of us has a family and close friends – people who are not indifferent to us. Would you consider their congratulations insincere if they wrote them in text? You know, a couple of years ago I received a large message of congratulations from a good friend, it contained many warm words and sincere wishes. Was I then offended that the person could not call? Not at all, because the sincerity of his words did not depend in any way on the format in which he conveyed them.

And yet, if we are talking about the closest people, then I try to congratulate them either with my voice or in person. However, I know for sure which of my friends prefers the format of remote communication, and now they receive their congratulations online.

What do you say, dear readers? Is there a difference for you in receiving congratulations? Do you find voice greetings more emotional or don't you see the difference?
