Today I would like to discuss blind fanaticism towards the company Xiaomi. I already understand in advance that the topic is very controversial, but definitely worthy of attention.
I myself am a longtime fan MIUI since the days of Android 2.1. Much of what appeared in pure Android only in the fourth or fifth version was available in MIUI three years ago. The firmware worked fine on most smartphones and provided functionality that was huge for those times. After switching to Android 4.0 in MIUI, something broke, and the first slowdowns appeared in the proprietary launcher, although previously there was not the slightest hint of them. It upset me very much, and I forgot about those firmware for a long time.
Until I started testing smartphones from the company Xiaomi. By that time, the brakes were mostly eliminated, and other functions were perfected. In any case, so it seemed to me at first glance. One of the latest tested devices, Redmi Note 2, looked great on paper: a cool display, a powerful chipset, a capacious battery, and all this for 10,000-12,000 rubles! However, during everyday use, strong heating was found, and unintuitive settings, and the lack of Russian localization out of the box, and much more. Of course, the company's fans began to be outraged, they say, why are you so crooked, you cannot reflash your smartphone. No, of course, a couple of years ago I would have been happy to dig deeper into the flashing of the recovery, custom, unlocks and other joys of visitors to the w3bsit3-dns.com forums, but at some point I wanted stability so that you could just turn on the smartphone, set it up and start using it. Alas, with Xiaomi it didn't work.
And recently Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 came to me for a test, which is also a remarkable model in terms of characteristics and price, but from the very first minutes of use it became clear that the tablet would have to be reflashed again (here, fortunately, a simple file download was enough firmware to the corresponding folder on the device), but there is no Russification in the official firmware on en.miui.com yet. There was no default and Google Play, I had to download a special installer and spend another ten minutes on all further procedures. While loading all my applications, the device managed to freeze and reboot a couple of times, and my favorite client Robird refused to run on it at all.
And now you use the device and you realize that it is very far from the ideal image of the company Xiaomi that has formed in your head. And when you try to explain it to the readers, they immediately begin to stigmatize and say that it was necessary to unlock, reflash, install a patch, and only then start using it.
What do you say, dear readers? What is your experience with the technique Xiaomi?
