One of the strengths of the company Apple is that they build both the device itself and the operating system. Android has a separate process, but how much does this affect the quality of the final product?
I recently came for a test Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 8, just a gorgeous eight-inch tablet, perfect for travel. Great design, stereo speakers, an FHD screen, a great stand that adjusts the tilt of the display, and good battery life.
The proprietary Vibe UI is installed as a shell, which I really do not like. The fact is that in this shell, in my opinion, a lot of superfluous things are preinstalled. Judge for yourself, the built-in software is there for two screens! While you can delete some of it, you cannot delete another part.
And I really don't know if the chipset from Intel, the overloaded shell from Lenovo or something else is to blame, but the launcher in this tablet works with slowdowns. I usually take this behavior calmly, because installing a third-party launcher solves the problem. Lately I got hooked on reactive Google Start and installed it on my device.
But it was not there! Even the smart Google Start worked with slowdowns on the tablet. Interestingly, the rest of the applications work pretty fast, the problem is only with launchers.
But after all, the launcher is what we use every day, in fact, it is one of the basic programs that give the layman the impression of the speed of a smartphone or tablet (you will laugh, but the other component for the layman is the results in benchmarks).
And it turns out that in the union Lenovo – Intel – one of the components is not optimized well enough. And, probably, if we were talking about a Nexus device, then Google could somehow normalize its work, but in the case of third-party manufacturers, this is not always possible.
And, of course, I would like to say once again that it upsets me very much when shell developers do not pay enough attention to their work on each specific device. On the other hand, I know that the Yoga Tablet 2 8 is planned to be updated to Android 5.0 and it will probably run significantly faster after the update.
P.S. By the way, after removing some of the pre-installed software and disabling the non-removable tablet, the tablet began to work much faster. However, I will tell you about it in detail in a full review.
