An overview of the application for compiling exercise sets and recording workout results.
Google Play has a huge number of good applications that can satisfy most of the needs of any user. But when it comes to finding an application for unpopular tasks, you have to choose from a bunch of applications with compromises for a long time. This choice was for me to search for a training diary.
Recording your workout results helps you see your progress in exercises, find errors in your program, and discipline yourself. Many people use a regular notebook or notebook for this, I also tried it – it turned out to be easier and faster to enter data into the phone. I settled on the GymBoom application. It is the only one that has a normal interface and contains all the functions I need.
The GymBoom workout diary is a calendar with a catalog of exercises. Everything works simply: you choose the date, time and training program, indicating the number of approaches and weight for each exercise.
The program can be made each time from a ready-made list of exercises, or you can choose a ready-made complex, assembled in advance. This is useful if the set of exercises doesn't change much. If some exercise is not in the list, you can add a new one with a detailed description. Although many other exercise diaries suggest using only your own set of exercises and do not allow you to add new ones.
I usually do this: I plan a workout in advance according to the set prepared at the site, fill in the number of approaches and weights. And during training, I simply mark the completed approaches with one click. If you did less or more than planned, you can quickly change the readings.
When you exercise, the app will tell you that in the last workout you took more weight or did more repetitions, and then, perhaps, you should increase the load. There is also a timer and a stopwatch if someone is doing sets on time.
The app is beginner friendly. For each exercise, the handbook has a detailed description, an explanation of which muscle group it uses, and illustrated tips and techniques. GymBoom will help not only strength training but also cardio. You can select time, speed, distance or intensity as indicators.
For those who are more serious about training, the application provides graphs and statistics of exercise results. In addition to the workouts themselves, the application can record the results of body measurements: weight, girth of body parts and the percentage of muscle and adipose tissue.
In GymBoom, I found only two drawbacks: not always clear interface due to the large number of functions and advertising. The second disadvantage can be turned in favor – you can get rid of ads by turning off the Internet, at the same time there will be fewer distractions during training. If you cannot turn off the Internet for some reason, then you can pay from $ 5 to developers. At the same time, it will be possible to synchronize data with the 'cloud'.
Conclusion
This workout diary has everything you need for a beginner athlete and simply passionate about physical education. It turned out to be easier and faster for me to put a tick in the phone than to fill out a diary by hand. I have no problems with the fact that the smartphone is distracting during classes, I still turn off the sound and all notifications. So I recommend giving GymBoom a try if you have long thought about trying to keep a workout diary. The app is also free.
