The gaming world is gradually switching to the freemium model, I increasingly see free games with advertising and the ability to buy bonuses for real money, and I wondered how much, for example, our readers are willing to spend in such games? In the post I will share my numbers.
I already talked about freemium in the very first issues of the mobile environment, so I won't go into detail about the phenomenon itself. In short, in my opinion, freemium is the developers' response to the greed of players who download broken games and me, as an ordinary player, this trend is very sad. But since the phenomenon has already appeared and has become popular, I decided to ask one interesting question, but first I will tell you a little background.
After the presentation of the seventh iPhone, I almost immediately downloaded the Oz: Broken Kingdom toy to my smartphone and I still play it with great pleasure. I wanted to tell everything about her in more detail, but my hands did not reach. By the way, would you be interested in reading a separate post about this game?
So, this game is distributed according to the freemium model in several ways at once. Firstly, you have a limited number of moves, then you have to either wait or buy a potion for emeralds to fill the move scale again. The second point is skill chests, to open them you need from two to eight hours, but you can watch a 15-30 second advertisement and reduce the time by one hour. The third is the purchase of directly ready-made packs or emeralds (for which you can buy almost anything). Prices are quite high, starting from 300 rubles and increasing.
Nevertheless, I like the toy, I spend half an hour a day in it consistently and, on the one hand, I want to support the developers, on the other, to make my life a little easier. The game has an inexpensive pack, within which you increase the growth of emeralds from ten pieces per day to 175 per month, this is a very cool offer, because 5500 emeralds cost more than a thousand separately. I bought myself this one-month package and it became much more fun to play. I note right away that in fact the game is comfortable even if you don’t donate at all.
Previously, for me, donation was associated with cheats for money, it was psychologically difficult for me to buy something in the game, it felt like I was becoming a cheater. But at some point I realized that all I buy is to save time and wait less for buns that would kill more hours. Plus this is my little thanks to the developers. However, now the month ends and I understand that maybe I will even renew my subscription for another one. I have already noted to myself how cleverly I was caught on the hook. And then I thought, I wonder what our readers are doing in such situations? How much are you willing to pay in a freemium game? Please tell us about your 'limits' and past purchases, it will be interesting to compare the attitude to such purchases and the amount of different people.
