Despite the fact that neither HTC nor its partner Valve are in a hurry to announce the sales results, the proceeds received, apparently, were enough to develop the second generation HTC Vive. It is likely that we will see it in the near future – most likely, this will happen within the framework of the MWC 2017 exhibition in Barcelona, which starts literally in a few days.
Although there hasn't been any official confirmation of this yet, the Internet is already full of rumors about the so-called 'Oasis Project', which is HTC Vive 2.

Due to the fact that the company is silent about this, it is impossible to say with 100% accuracy when the new VR headset from HTC will be shown. First of all, it is necessary to find out which model of updating the hardware characteristics of the helmet will choose HTC: will it be an annual update cycle (as is the case with smartphones) or the Taiwanese will prefer to release a new generation of Vive every 5-6 years (by analogy with console platforms).

At the moment, no one has exact details on the possible specs HTC of the Vive 2, but the public will surely be very disappointed if the next generation Vive doesn't go wireless. Back in September, it became known that the Bulgarian company Quark VR together with HTC worked on the creation of a prototype of a wireless virtual reality headset. More recently, it became known that the guys from the TPCast startup have developed an add-on for the current version HTC Vive and plan to release it on sale in Q1 2017. The company claims that the lack of wires did not affect performance and did not cause any or tangible delays, which cannot but impress.
Another likely change in the HTC Vive 2 will be higher resolution screens – yes, 1,0801200 pixels and a 90Hz refresh rate in the first HTC Vive provided good image sharpness even on close inspection, however It would be nice if the novelty had a pair of 4K displays, but on the other hand, such a solution would require a much more powerful computer.
Also, many users will be happy if HTC makes it more convenient to use the technology for tracking the movements of the helmet and the player's movement. Today's indoor sensors are difficult to install, and their short power wires make this even more difficult.
One last thing: HTC The Vive 2 is bound to get a new, more attractive design. Sony and its PlayStation VR have shown what a modern VR headset should actually look like.
