Once upon a time, I tested devices called Powermate (they seemed to be called that). This was back in the days of iPhone 3Gs. As the name suggests, these are charging tables, or rather rugs for different smartphones. And then I met with a representative of the company in Russia. And I was told that these accessories are just the tip of the iceberg. The company wanted to promote this technology to the masses – to integrate charging surfaces into familiar furniture. For example, a kitchen table so that you don't get tangled in the wires and some toaster works without being connected to a plug. Or, imagine a bedside table with wireless charging. I put my smartphone down, it was charged overnight. Where is Powermate now, who knows. But Ikea announced furniture with wireless charging.
Several accessories are presented, these are two lamps, two bedside tables and a set for self-installation of such a charge in furniture – you can cut a hole in your favorite table and insert the accessory. Please note that many devices are already equipped with Qi without any covers, but if you have another device, Ikea offers covers.
There is also a model for the Samsung Galaxy S5, although it is better to use the original Qi cover, it is sold among other accessories.
Sales in the USA and Europe will begin at the end of April, in Russia the whole business will need to be certified for a long time and persistently, but it will still start selling here. A lamp with Qi is cool, especially if your device supports this technology.
