Support for the aptX codec by many devices based on Android is a clear plus for the platform. What does this mean for the user? For the user, this means better sound when using many accessories. At least, this is so on paper, if you do not know what aptX is, then I will explain it to you on my fingers – if the device has aptX, then on wireless headphones (they must also support aptX), you can drive sound almost in its original quality. That is, listen to FLAC on the Galaxy S6 edge +, connect the Sony MDR-1ADAC and, as they say, enjoy it. You can read more about aptX here, I really love this article for the simplicity of the story about complex things, it is understandable even for children.
By the way, all devices with aptX support are collected here, on the official website, the link leads to the Sony name tab.
Devices Apple do not have aptX support, why is a mystery. I want to note that with wireless headphones, the sound of iPhone 6/6 Plus may be no worse or even better than most models with Android despite the support of aptX, but comparison with some advanced smartphones on this OS, iPhones will lose. Probably in Apple they are again worried about power consumption. There may be another reason. In any case, if you have expensive headphones, a lot of FLAC tracks and want to listen to music wirelessly with excellent quality – then it is worth looking at some Samsung devices and others. Or try these headphones with FLAC player for iOS to feel the difference.
