Another 'sketch' in the genre of comparison. Two flagships from companies, each with their own dedicated fans, and still the same question – which would you choose?
Design and build
Models from Apple with the S index usually do not have noticeable changes in design. Everything is as usual here: iPhone 6S looks like a 'six', only slightly thicker, plus a new color Rose Gold. Looks the same, but actually stronger with the 7000 series aluminum used in the case.
Like the new iPhone, the Xperia Z5 doesn't differ much from its predecessor, the Z3. The metal and glass are traditional for Sony with excellent build quality, smooth lines and water resistance – but not water resistance.
Display
The iPhone 6S was expected to have a better display than the previous model (4.7 inches, 2000×1125 pixels, 488 ppi), but it remains the same. However, there is an important difference, and that is 3D Force Touch. 3D Touch allows the screen to distinguish between pressing force – tap, press and long press, which allow you to perform various functions.
This is the reason for the greater thickness than the “six”. It should be noted that the company Huawei with an elegant gesture deprived Apple of its uniqueness thanks to Force Touch in the Mate S. Force Touch is not an integral part of the OS Android, but in iOS it is built in, being available to every user and potentially every application.
The Xperia Z5 has a 5.2-inch LCD display with a resolution of 1920×1080 and 424 ppi. Unlike 2K competitors with Android, here is FullHD, which saves battery power. The display is incredibly bright, with excellent sun exposure, viewing angles and color reproduction. And on the Xperia Z5 Premium, you get all 4K.
Processor and memory
The Z5 has 32GB of internal storage and a microSD slot. The processor is eight-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 clocked at 2 GHz and 1.5 GHz. RAM 3 GB.
It is difficult to compare processors directly here, since Apple has its own, but A9 in iPhone 6S corresponds in performance to the top Android smartphones. The 'operative' has doubled to 2 GB, and as for the built-in memory – fly in, choose: 16, 64 or 128 GB. Needless to say, there is no microSD slot?
Camera
In Apple, for a long time, they focused not on megapixels, but on the final image quality, but in iPhone 6S, the camera changed from 8 megapixel to 12 MP. The front camera with its 5 megapixels should also be better than its predecessor.
Cameras have always been a strong suit for Sony, and the Z5 has their best camera to date. The main 23 MP camera has an Exmor RS sensor along with all its reputation and optical stabilization, the 5.1 MP front camera also has an Exmor sensor.
Software
iPhone 6S runs on iOS 9 which is a relatively minor update. The main thing here is an improved Siri and a notification system, similar to Google Now, called Proactive. What we really worked on was improving performance and increasing battery life.
The Xperia Z5 runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop, but is guaranteed to upgrade to Android 6.0. Sony has refined the stock Android, making it look more stylish and adding applications such as Xperia Lounge, Twitter, PS4 Remote Play, Sony Entertainment Network and others.
Battery
This year the flagship Apple has a smaller battery: 1,715 mAh versus 1,800 mAh in iPhone 6. Since power consumption and performance are optimized in iOS 9, we can assume that a smaller battery here will give a longer life time from one charge, no matter what in Apple they have nagged to achieve this. I mean, it would be strange to release iPhone 6S with worse battery. She must last the day.
The Xperia Z5 has a 2,900mAh battery, which promises two days of life on a single charge.
conclusions
If the appearance of the device or the quality of cameras is important to you, then the advantage is on the side of the flagship from Sony. But, most likely, you are not an outside observer in the war Apple against Android, since you have looked into this article. And if you don't plan to part with iOS, then here is the verdict: iPhone 6S is a slightly improved iPhone 6. And if you are a fan Android, then similarly: Z5 is a slightly improved Z3.
Don't you belong to any of the camps? Well then. In terms of user experience iPhone is better, although not as good as they can do in Apple. Here you have an app store, which is considered more secure, and the ability to get an OS update right away, rather than waiting for the manufacturer to deign to offer it to you. And on the Xperia side – a lower price, especially after a couple of months.
What do you think? Could one of these machines make you go over to the other side of the barricades?
