September was very busy in terms of travel, I decided to combine business with pleasure, and in each of them I took with me a new module instead of a portable speaker – a wireless speaker for the Moto Z line. In the article I will share my impressions of using it.
Hey. As promised, every couple of weeks I will tell you about new modules from Moto and partners. This time I decided to share my impressions of using the wireless speaker module.
Where to use?
Before describing the module itself, I would like to draw your attention to three main scenarios for using wireless speakers, in any case, I consider them as such.
# 1. At home. I love listening to music at home, but if the iMac can do this in my room, other rooms need separate solutions. for example, in the shower, in the kitchen or on the balcony. Of course, you can just turn on music from your smartphone, but even the best representatives of smartphone sound, as a rule, do not reach the simplest wireless speakers, primarily in terms of volume.
# 2. On trips. Did you know that classical music increases productivity in any job? There was even a separate study on this matter, it is interesting that they took for it my favorite work by Mozart – a sonata for two pianos. You can read more (in English) about this study here. In general, it's more fun to work with music, so I used to just listen to it from my laptop, and on my last trips I took a column module with me.
No. 3. Outdoors. Now this is less relevant, but a couple of months ago you could have enjoyed sitting somewhere near a pond or in the forest with friends and listening to something from good music.
Why a module and not a separate column?
But for all these scenarios, a regular wireless speaker would be fine. So what are the benefits of a separate module? Before proceeding to their description, let's take it for a fact that an ordinary person changes their smartphone on average once every three years or even less often, so I will not discuss what will happen to the module if you update the smartphone. Because here we can say that, on the one hand, it will no longer be needed, but on the other, Moto Z has backward compatibility with modules, so it will work just fine even on some Z4.
In fact, I would single out three of the key advantages of the module. The first is the ease of connection. You must first turn on the wireless speaker, then connect your smartphone to it and only then start playing music. With the module, everything is much simpler: 'click' – and it is already fixed on the smartphone, immediately connected and ready to work. I have used different wireless speakers and I cannot help but note that certain problems with connecting via Bluetooth still sometimes happen to almost everyone.
The second advantage is its compact size. Remember the JBL Charge column. Yes, she's cool, but big. There are, of course, more compact options, but they are usually worse in sound quality.
The third plus is the sound quality. How many different speakers I've listened to and I can safely say that almost all of them focus on bass. But I don't like that accent, the bass drowns out the vocals, and in the classics they are not needed at all. The JBL module has a more balanced sound, with it you can perfectly listen to rock, pop music, and even classics.
Finally, a few dry facts about the module. It measures 152 x 73 x 14.5 mm and weighs 145 grams. The built-in battery capacity is 1000 mAh, its charge is enough for 10 hours of music playback, charging is carried out through the Type C port. The smartphone with the connected module becomes plump and heavy, however, hardly anyone will use it in such a bundle on an ongoing basis.
Of the pleasant little things, I will single out a small stand on the back cover, it is very convenient.
Conclusion
In retail, the new JBL SoundBoost 2 MOD will cost about 7,000 rubles, for about the same money you can take a JBL Charge speaker. Among the advantages of the module, I will single out compact dimensions, more versatile sound and ease of connection. It seems to me that this is a good alternative to a wireless speaker, provided that you take any smartphone from the Z line for a long time.
