What is Lenovo Tech World? This is a conference that companies usually hold when others are not enough for them. There can be a huge number of reasons for holding a separate conference, from the desire to show your new products with maximum emphasis for the press, so that no one is distracted by anything else, to the desire to gather a different audience in one place to discuss problems, news and other things with people. level of round tables, private conversations, presentations and so on. That is, to talk about painful things. Large companies such as Samsung, Microsoft and others (and even earlier Nokia) hold their own exhibitions and conferences every year, where they present new products, technologies, solutions and make important announcements. Chinese companies have recently decided to practice something similar. So, for example, Huawei try to start with a simpler format, every year they hold a brand festival in China Honor, where they gather press, fans and specialists from all over the world. In Lenovo they went further and, immediately deciding not to waste time on trifles, organized their own exhibition in 2015 – Lenovo Tech World `15. Everyone liked the format, and in 2016 the company decided to hold this event again, but on a larger scale, moving the conference from Beijing to San Francisco and gathering even more journalists, fans and people who are simply not indifferent to the brand and technologies.
Lenovo Tech World `16 will take place on June 8-9, all major announcements and announcements will be made on the second day, June 9, so you have another day to prepare for this event. And so that you are better prepared, I will briefly describe what you can expect from this conference (I will tell you the rest from the scene).
Smartphones of the Moto Z line. Many expect that on June 9 at Tech World the company Lenovo will present new flagship devices under the Moto brand to the world. And if earlier the line of flagships bore the proud name 'Moto X', now, according to rumors, it has been replaced by an equally proud (although it is still not clear why) – 'Moto Z'. These rumors emerged after the company registered the rights to the 'Moto Z' trademark and attentive users learned about it.
According to rumors, one of the devices in the new line, in fact, Moto Z, will be a new flagship with AMOLED – a screen made using proprietary ShatterShield technology, with a fingerprint scanner inscribed in a hardware key under the screen, based on the platform Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 and with a very good camera. On the leaked images of an unknown device from Lenovo Moto, the module around the camera is very richly beaten, and it is on this that the assumptions are made that the camera will be given a lot of attention. Fresh rumors also hint at the Moto Z's familiar replacement panels, including metal, wood, leather and ballistic nylon panels. If all this is confirmed – give me this Lenovo Moto Z as soon as possible!
Smartphone for Google`s Project Tango. My fault – I did not tell about the joint presentation Lenovo and Google, which took place at the MWC 2016 in Barcelona, where they demonstrated the capabilities of Google`s Project Tango. In my defense, I will say that at that time everything was very vague. Yes, interesting moments were shown at the presentation (smart indoor navigation and the opportunity to study information on paintings and other exhibits in the museum), but it was not clear how and why all this would be implemented. And the reason for this misunderstanding, it seems to me, is also due to the lack of a piece of hardware that will be made specifically for Project Tango and will make it immediately clear what it is all about.
According to rumors, at Tech World `16, the company will just unveil the first smartphone released in cooperation with Google for Project Tango. There is no special information about the future device, except that it is expected that the device will receive a screen with a diagonal of more than 6 '' and a resolution of 2560 × 1440 pixels, as well as a set of sensors and cameras for digitizing the surrounding space (this is necessary to work with Project Tango). Perhaps it will be a Lenovo Phab? We'll find out soon!
Tech World will surely have new items in accessories, some updates to the ThinkPad product line, and much, much more. There is not much more to wait. I'll try to tell you about the most interesting things, so don't switch!
