Master's notes. Risks for beginners

Hello!

Each master has his own list of models, brands and malfunctions that he, for one reason or another, does not like to do, or does not do at all. This is due to various reasons. Today I would like to tell you about a list of models and their malfunctions, which I do not recommend repairing to those who are just starting to repair.

Here I will also include my list of models that I do not like to repair, and for some of them I do not even undertake.

Go.

In the first place, one of the most popular types of repairs is a broken display.

In particular, let's talk about the Samsung Galaxy S series.

Master's notes. Risks for beginners

There is nothing difficult in the repair of these phones, if we are talking about repairing some insides, or about replacing the entire display module. However, not every client agrees to such a repair, since the module for the Galaxy 'S' model is quite an expensive piece. For example, a good assembled module for an old Galaxy S4 costs about 4500-5000 rubles.

Usually, when you announce the cost, the owner of the phone asks a self-evident question – is it possible to change the glass separately? Can. And it's not as difficult as it sounds. But we all know that Galaxy up to the fifth generation, inclusive, have one annoying drawback – an instantly crumpled frame around the display.

What does the client think? He thinks that now they will fix my glass and the phone will be like new. Will not be. The frame will remain old with chips and scuffs.

The main mistake that novice masters make is that they agree to replace the frame. I strongly advise against doing this, since removing the matrix from the frame of these models, as a rule, is very, very difficult due to the fact that it is very firmly glued to the base. There is a great risk of damaging the thin and delicate matrix of the SuperAmoled display. You better not risk it.

If you decide to change the glass separately, then cut it off right in the frame. It will be more whole. Simply put, if the glass on the Galaxy S is broken, then either replace the entire module or replace the glass without removing the module from the frame.

The next devices that I would like to highlight separately are all Sony branded phones, and especially the 'M' and 'Z' series. I don't know who designed these phones, but from the point of view of the rationality of the use of internal space and the convenience of dismantling the elements, this is a nightmare. To remove the board from the case requires special skill. The boards of most Sony devices have to be literally ripped out of the case, while at the same time twisting them in one direction or another.

During this entertaining action, do not forget about the cables that hold most of the individual elements, such as buttons, vibration alert, microphone, etc. and which not only have a mass of thin and fragile places, but also often lay on top of each other, and pass through the entire body.

Master's notes. Risks for beginners

If you managed to get the board and the case without any problems, then an equally fascinating quest awaits you – put this board back without crushing or tearing anything. Personally, I don't take Sony for repairs. Absolutely. Nerves and money are more expensive.

This is followed by Chinese phones from such well-known manufacturers in Russia as Meizu and 'best' phones Xiaomi.

Meizu is characterized by the use of a lot of different revisions in the production of display modules for their devices. A striking example is the model Meizu M3 Note, the touchscreen of which has two revisions with different loop configurations. In one case, this is a straight and thin connector going down, in the second case, it is a curved ribbon cable that connects to the side of the board. The most surprising thing is that most of the workshops have a module for Chinese versions of phones.

“Messenger” carries localized versions of another revision, spare parts for which you won't find in the daytime with fire. Therefore, before you promise a repair, find out what revision of the touchscreen is in the phone and if you can find it.

If we talk about Xiaomi, then the first model. Which comes to mind is the Mi5. If this phone was brought to you to replace the module, and you, having found a spare part at a very attractive price, are ready to take on repairs, do not rush to agree, let alone voice the cost. During the repair process, you may be faced with an insidious nuance called the Home button, which has a built-in fingerprint sensor. The fact is that it is very, VERY difficult to separate the button from the display, as they are practically one whole. One gets the feeling that the button is glued to the module with liquid glass. Keep this in mind. Most display modules are sold without a button.

Master's notes. Risks for beginners

The module together with the button costs completely different money and it is not a fact that it will work at all.

There is another model. Which is now often carried for repairs, and for which I would also not advise beginners to take on. This is Highscreen Boost 3. The most common breakdown in this model is a non-working touchscreen after a fall. It either breaks and does not work, or it stops working without visible damage after being hit. This model of the device has several revisions of both the display and the touchscreen.

Moreover, they can be combined in a wide variety of options, although outwardly they cannot be distinguished. and there is also a version for SE … It may turn out that one thing will work, or a display or a touchscreen, or maybe nothing. In short, a lottery. In addition, there is a very large defect in the form of broken pixels. According to statistics, half of the modules come with dead pixels. In general, I do not recommend it.

Nokia Lumia devices stand apart.

If you undertake to repair a touchscreen or a module assembly on a Lumia, my advice to you is, do not be greedy, buy the option immediately in the frame.

Master's notes. Risks for beginners

A separate insertion of the display and touchscreen into the frame is another test for a novice master. Either set the prints, or dust, or it will come off. Despite the fact that there are always exceptions, for the first time, few people manage to glue the touchscreen to the frame without flaws.

Master's notes. Risks for beginners

Among the devices that I do not advise a beginner to take on, I can single out Chinese tablets and phones such as Oysters, Texet, Dexp, TreeLogic, etc. in case we are talking about repairing charging connectors or touchscreen.

Master's notes. Risks for beginners

In the case of a faulty connector, there is a great risk of unsoldering everything, but never doing it, since on these tablets and phones, if the connector is damaged, the so-called 'dimes' – the contact pads to which the connector contacts are soldered – often break off.

Master's notes. Risks for beginners

And if it is often not difficult for an experienced craftsman to restore such a breakdown, then for a beginner it can become a real test and problem, and the main risk, at the same time, is to damage the elements located nearby. If we are talking about a touchscreen or a matrix, then it is likely that you simply will not find the necessary spare part, due to the fact that Chinese tablets can be assembled from anything and different batches may have different revisions and even different designs. It may turn out that you order a touchscreen or display, and it even fits in size and connector, but does not work.

In general, besides advice to take care of the repair of these devices with caution, I can advise you to simply never buy this frank stuff. ?

I would like to highlight the Home buttons in devices Apple equipped with a fingerprint scanner. Many people know this, but still I will repeat – when the button is replaced, the Touch ID will not work.

Master's notes. Risks for beginners

If you replace the intermediate cable from the button connector to the board, Touch ID will not work. Here is such a capricious 'Apple'.

These are the main points that I would like to talk about. If there are experienced masters among the readers, I would like to hear your objections or additions. Or maybe you have your own list of things that a beginner shouldn't take on? I would be grateful if you share in the comments.

Instead of a conclusion, I want to say that despite the possible difficulties in repairing certain models, and the presence of nuances that increase the risk of failure, you still need to try. No wonder the classic wrote: '… And experience, the son of difficult mistakes …'.

However, today we have one very important advantage – the Internet. On the World Wide Web, you can find a lot of instructions, both text and video. Go for it.
