Mixcder E9 Headphone Quick Review

Positioning

The device was released in May 2019, but it has not lost its relevance at all: active noise cancellation, about 20 hours of music playback, wired or wireless connection to an audio source, folding mechanism. And all this for 3,000 rubles.

It is good that the manufacturer does not forget about us, Russian consumers: instructions in Russian are included in the kit. A trifle, but nice. On the Mixcder E9 page, the headphones are rated 4.9 out of 5 with over 2,500 reviews. The people will not advise bad things, and neither will Roman.

P. S. The review is quick and does not claim to be the best material on this topic due to the availability of fairly simple and inexpensive headphones.

Contents of delivery

Headphones are located in a separate dense fabric case in the shape of the device. Inside it is a 'guide', a warranty card, a 3.5 – 3.5 mm wire, a microUSB cable, and an adapter for headphones in an airplane. In general, everything is as it should be.

Design

I won't even argue here: the Mixcder E9 headphones are designed extremely neatly, stylishly and absolutely not ashamed. Yes, of course, they resemble the 'ears' of Sony or some other well-known brand, but for this class of headphones it's even not bad. Moreover, there are no flashy Chinese logos on the E9, only a simple gray 'mixcder' lettering.

The headphones are really big. Pay attention to this. They weigh no less than 270 grams. However, they fold easily: the cups are rotated 90 degrees. In this case, E9 takes up a little less space, for example, in a backpack or bag. And in winter, in theory, you can hide them in an outer pocket.

There are plastic panels on the cups, which are nicely designed in the style of budget models of Sony headphones, for example, the MDR-XB950. Depending on the direction of the light source, these panels reflect reality in an unusual way.

The temples are made of plastic, the bottom is made of leatherette with foam rubber. The ear pads are also made of leatherette. Soft, comfortable, no pressure on the ears. Passive sound insulation is excellent.

On the right earpiece, there are two separate volume buttons, a microUSB power connector, an operation indicator, a microphone and an on / off button.

On the left is a 3.5 mm jack, ANC switch.

Sound quality

In short, the Mixcder E9 produces a very flat frequency response, again, to my ear. There are no obvious lows or highs here. I call this sound flat. This model is well suited for those who do not like experiments with frequency response and want to adjust the equalizer themselves in the application on a smartphone or any other sound source.

It was possible to paint the sound in detail, but that would already be an inappropriate squeeze out of a budget device. All these transparent sounds, sibilance, dry highs or 'dull' lows are not about the Mixcder E9. The device plays, roughly speaking, exactly as much as it is sold for on AliExpress.

As a headset

It's simple: they do not fit because of the low level of intelligibility and volume. Here is an example of a voice (audio call).

Noise suppression

It's there, and it's not a marketing gimmick. When the lever is activated, a low rumble is instantly cut off. In the subway, this model will be useless in terms of noise suppression. But for listening to music on the bus or on the street – why not. If you want a comparison, but Huawei FreeBuds 3 'noise reduction' is better. Yes, they cost three times as much, but they are of the non-in-ear type. It is not worth comparing with the Bose QC35: heaven and earth.

Working hours

The manufacturer claims that the Mixcder E9s last 30 hours. Oh, I don’t know, I don’t know … The gadget didn’t “run” so much, but for about 10 hours with ANC they “hold” without problems. Charged with a 2A AC adapter for an hour.

Impression

I think you should have guessed from the review that the Mixcder is more stylish and cute headphones, since the quality of music playback is average, and from the point of view of using the headset, it's a completely sad situation.

We already had a review of the Mixcder E7 – these are really cool headphones. Soon I will prepare a quick review of Ausdom ANC10. They sound no worse than the E7, but are cheaper.
