Hello!
Today's article will not be typical for me. Today we will not disassemble, solder and improve anything.
I want to share with you my impressions of the new Nokia phones. Or rather, about one of the models, Nokia 3.
Since the announcement of the new line of smartphones of this brand, I have not left the desire to test the phones of the good old Nokia in order to form my own opinion about them, and to understand what remains of the 'good old'.
The device fell into my hands by accident. Although not even so. I saw him from a colleague, and in spite of her protests, I took him away for five days.
Appearance
This is what most often causes fierce controversy. From a design point of view, Nokia 3 fits perfectly into the idea of what Nokia could be, without Stephen Elop breaking it.
Laconic forms, smooth lines, minimalism, a pleasant combination of materials, good build quality. It is hard to explain. However, it seems that the designers were inspired by devices of the 'pre-Elop' era, such as the Nokia N9. Yes, the devices are different, but they have something subtle in common.
With dimensions of 143x71x8.48 mm, Nokia 3 fits well in the hand, but the feeling that the corners could be rounded a little more does not leave. At the same time, the thought appears in my head that these are only my wishlist, as a person accustomed to 'remnants'.
Design and materials
The matte, rough aluminum frame is a little slippery. In the upper right corner is the name of the company. Looks pretty good. I never understood people dissatisfied with the presence of the brand name on the device. In fact, I was always upset that Motorola prototypes always had a neat logo in the upper left corner that was not on the versions for sale. The logo is more than appropriate here.
The smartphone seems heavier than it actually is. I think this is a plus for perception. The feeling of a high-quality, solid thing is created.
Despite the fact that the frames around the 5-inch display cannot be called thin, the device looks harmonious.
Of the unusual solutions in appearance, the slot of the earpiece stands out, which looks like just a recess in the protective glass. Stylish. The flip side of the coin is that this groove is remarkable for collecting dust and all kinds of lint. You have to blow constantly.
The peephole of the front camera resembled that of the Motorola Atrix 2. The impression was formed due to the fact that the camera is recessed into the body, and there is a massive O-ring around.
In my case, the device is white. There is a thin black frame around the display, which spoils the overall impression a little, giving out the budget of the phone.
The display itself pleased and upset. Despite the low HD resolution, the picture is clear, without highlights or spots. But the brightness is low. All the time you have to twist to the maximum. The main disadvantage of the screen.
The back surface is polycarbonate. I don’t know who finds solidity in this device, but I’m betting on the back, there is a slight backlash – the lid bends to the battery.
I liked the back cover design more than in older models. Here it looks more like the same 'good old Nokia'.
At the bottom there is a MicroUSB port, a microphone, and a slot for a music speaker, made in the same style as the spoken one. This is a recess in the body that has a bottom. This creates the same blind hole effect. I liked this design solution very much.
At the top, there are no surprises – a Jack 3.5 connector, a microphone hole and antenna strips. It's a shame the audio jack isn't on the bottom.
Side buttons on the right side, with a clear stroke, and a distinct click. The only gripe is that they were designed either for pianists or for people with a remarkable paw. J Are high enough. You have to either intercept the device, or reach for them. It's a pity that I'm not a pianist …
The left side is empty, except for two slots for two SIM cards or one SIM card and a memory card.
If we talk about 'hardware', then the characteristics on paper are frustrating.
Old MediaTek MT6737, and 2 GB of RAM. Built-in memory 16 GB. It is good that there is a slot for memory cards (up to 128 GB are supported).
Both front and main cameras are 8 MP. The quality is below average. If the camera is important to you, then look towards other state employees.
The 2630 mAh battery allows … It makes you feel sad. Despite the fact that it uses a rather weak processor, the phone hardly survives until the evening. From 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., it is enough end to end. And this is if you do not load very much.
As a result, the characteristics are frustrating not only on paper, but also in life.
Andriod 7 is used as the operating system, which ensures a smooth operation without 'freezes' and 'lags'. The device surprised me in this parameter. Everything is actually smooth and fast. Maybe this is the reason for the mediocre autonomy, who knows.
Conclusion
The first glance turned out to be somewhat chaotic. This is probably because the apparatus itself is very controversial.
As a preliminary conclusion, I would like to write that the device turned out to be controversial, and that it has strengths and weaknesses, but, to be honest, it has only one strong side – appearance and materials. And then, given that the design is a very relative characteristic, the device, by and large, has no advantages.
To be honest, I really don't want to prepare a full review. Too many 'buts' have collected a smartphone.
I became interested in this model first of all because it is Nokia, and secondly, because at the moment I am looking for a second phone for my father for business trips. Considering the cost, the Nokia 3 seemed like an interesting option to me. After five days with him, I can say that the search will continue. The main option I am considering is Xiaomi Redmi 4X.
But having a choice is always a plus. In this regard, I want to ask your advice in choosing a phone as a second device, costing up to 10 thousand rubles?
