To be honest, I originally planned to write a traditional preview and my conclusions about this model based on known information. But then I thought that one glance at the plate with characteristics and prices would be enough for our advanced readers to appreciate this model. By the way, they were enough for me too. And I had a completely different idea for the material.
Good Xiaomi, Bad Xiaomi
Have you ever noticed that Xiaomi seems to have two completely parallel model lines? And it's not about the division into Mi and Redmi. It amazes me how bestsellers such as Redmi 5A, Redmi 5, Redmi 5 Plus and Redmi Note 4 coexist with straight-through models like presented yesterday Redmi S2 or quite passable Redmi Note 5A. Who needs these functionally cut and unnecessarily expensive devices? Don't Xiaomi see that, against the background of their own models, some of their announcements look frankly weak?
Seriously, look at this Redmi S2: at a price similar to the Redmi 5 Plus, it has a lower screen resolution, a lower battery capacity, it is either the same or worse in almost all respects. I don't see any reason to pay attention to this particular model, and not to Redmi 5 Plus, and I absolutely don't understand why Xiaomi to produce such a device.
Apparently, the company does not really understand this either, because key models are usually announced at separate events with a bunch of details and details in social networks, and there was practically no news about Redmi S2, just another smartphone, an assortment solution.
Personally, I am against such an artificial inflation of the lineup. Why? Let's take an inexperienced user, so he will come to the store and buy himself a conditional Redmi S2, because he heard a lot of good things about Xiaomi. And in the end he will get a regular model through passage and does not even know that in fact for this money he could have taken a cool Redmi 5 Plus, winning in all respects.
Conclusion
How is it new to you, dear readers? What do you think about the neighborhood of bestsellers with walk-throughs? Have you noticed him? Does it annoy you? I invite you to speak in the comments.
