Qualcomm has announced the launch of a new line of Adreno 5xx GPUs, which aims to raise the bar for high-resolution graphics coupled with low power consumption. The first two processors in the lineup are the Adreno 530 and the Adreno 510.530 will be paired with the upcoming Snapdragon 820 processor, while the 510 will be found in the Snapdragon 620 and 618 chipsets. Qualcomm will also improve the signal processing unit along with the upgrade to the Adreno line of graphics accelerators. images in 14-bit Qualcomm Spectra solution. DSLR photography support declared
VP of Product Promotion Tim Leland says:
“We've dramatically expanded the visual processing capabilities of Snapdragon to support the next generation of digital photography, computer vision, virtual reality, and photorealistic graphics experiences on mobile devices, while maximizing battery life. Qualcomm Spectra ISP works with our Adreno 5xx series graphics accelerators to bring a whole new level of visual experience to smartphones and is designed to enable Snapdragon users to capture super-clear photos and videos regardless of lighting and motion conditions and display them with accurate, true-to-origin color rendering. In addition, to meet the demands of growing market segments such as automotive gadgets and to enhance entertainment, the Snapdragon 820 will match the next generation of entertainment, computer vision and advanced processing for instrumental clusters. '
Qualcomm says the new Adreno 530 graphics engine uses 40% less power but is 40% faster than the current Adreno 430. Along with OpenGL ES 3.1 + AEP and Renderscript support, the Qualcomm 530 platform will also support OpenCL 2.0 and Vulkan standards. .
The new Spectra ISP module will provide up to three cameras simultaneously with a matrix resolution of up to 25 MP and up to 30 frames per second with zero shutter lag, along with other improvements in processing and power consumption.
Qualcomm predicts that the first devices based on the Snapdragon 820 chipset with an installed Adreno 530 GPU and Spectra ISP camera module will hit the market in the first half of 2016.
