Hello!
Small-sized on-ear headphones are in constant demand among buyers all over the world, so it is not surprising that almost every audio equipment manufacturer in the lineup necessarily has at least one model of headphones of this form factor. Chinese manufacturers are particularly good at this. One of them, a company from Shenzhen – Remax.
About two weeks ago, I stumbled upon headphones from this Chinese company, and since I was familiar with Remax before, I decided to try their products, which is called 'by the teeth'.
The first choice fell on the RM-100H on-ear headphones.
Packaging and equipment
The first thing you pay attention to is the box.
It is very solid, made of dense, multi-layer cardboard with high-quality printing. There is no feeling of cheapness and handicraft. The drawings are of high quality, with a claim to an interesting design – if you move your hand over the box, you can feel the convexity of the images, they are embossed.
Above, there is a reliable plastic handle, for which it is convenient to carry the box. In addition, there are several QR codes, and even a hologram. ?
The first impression is good.
We open the box, and … Inside we see a loop, next to which is written 'pull me'. I did not resist for a long time and followed the advice.
We pull it out and find inside another box covered with matte translucent plastic, with a schematic image of the headset.
There is a hole in the center, and again with instructions – to raise. Again, we follow the manufacturer's lead, especially since the device is already visible under the cover.
We lift the lid and see under it the headset laid in a plastic tray and next to it in a separate compartment a cable.
Is that all? Hmm, the appearance adjusted for a richer package. A bit disappointed.
As a result, a small instruction booklet and some kind of memo with the types of equipment are found under the bath.
It looks like in my case the most ascetic option (I doubt that there is a configuration option without a cable).
Design and materials
We remove the headset. The first association is oh Marshall Major II, is that you? Very similar, but of course not them.
The first thing you notice is not even design. This is the weight.
The headphones are very lightweight. Because of this, the feeling of a quality thing is blurred and you begin to look at the device with distrust.
The headset has a square speaker enclosure, covered on the outside with horizontal notched aluminum fins, engraved with motivating English lettering, which translates as 'anytime' on the left speaker and 'anywhere' on the right speaker.
If you pay attention to the font. then you can see that they tried to stylize it under the Marshall corporate font. Oh, those Chinese.
The ear cushions and headband are covered with artificial leather, which is now called eco-leather.
The body itself is made of matte plastic, which does not feel expensive and of high quality. Folding hinges are made of the same plastic, which also does not add reliability to the structure. Right there, on the inside of the loop, the designations of the sides of the headphones.
The headset folds inward, which makes it easier to place it in your bag. But I would have preferred a different design option where the speakers not only fold inward. but also rotate around their axis.
Depth adjustment made with metal brackets hugging the speaker housing and sliding inside the hinge looks spectacular.
I want to say right away that, despite the visual effect, from the point of view of quality, this was not done very well – with active movements of the head, the staples gradually slip in the loop and the headphones slide down. It's unpleasant. We have to correct it often.
Another very controversial point of the design was that the limiter for turning the headphone inside the bracket is the wire coming out of the headband. Despite the fact that this cable is in a fabric braid, it seems to me that if you often fold the headphones, this design will not live very long.
At the same time, the quality of fit of parts, seams of eco-leather upholstery, ends and corners is very, very good. There are no burrs, sharp corners or rough edges. Remax can be commended for this.
Inside the ear cushions, the speaker is covered with a dense fabric without a softening layer. If you touch the fabric, you can feel the speaker's protective plate.
The headband is rather tight, and it seems that with prolonged wear it will press on the ears. From experience I can say that there is no discomfort. Even if you wear this headset for a long time, nothing presses or presses. An additional plus is the low weight of the headphones, which is alarming at first, but in the end you realize that this is a good plus that adds comfort.
As you may have noticed, the cable is detachable. It connects to the right earpiece. The connector is not recessed into the case, so almost any cable will do if the complete one fails or is lost.
The cable itself is covered with a not very dense fabric braid. The braid is not made very well, as puffs and creases appear quite quickly, and the thickness leaves much to be desired.
The cable has caused controversial feelings. On the one hand, the braid, on the other hand, is not very dense and flimsy.
Let's see how the cable will show itself over time. I am glad that the memory effect is very short-lived. The cable straightens rather quickly after being removed from the box for the first time, and is reluctant to remember the bend afterwards. Straight plug, yellow.
There is a remote control with a standard set of buttons. '+', '-' and 'play / stop'. The buttons are informative, resilient with an average travel and a clear muted click. I really liked how they are pressed. It is convenient and pleasant to use.
At first I thought that the remote would cling to the collar due to its rectangular shape, but due to the rounded corners this does not happen. There is a microphone hole on the back of the remote control.
Voice quality is good. Not once, all the time I was talking through the headset, no one guessed that I was not speaking through the phone. Moreover, the conversations were in different conditions, and in silence and in a noisy place and in the wind. Here Remax pleased.
Sound
And the most important thing is the sound.
Specifications:
- Resistance: 32ohm
- Frequency response: 20 – 20,000 Hz
- Sensitivity: 105dB
- Diadynamics: 40mm
- Emitter type: dynamic
You immediately notice that the headset sounds very smooth.
There is no pronounced bias in one direction. And the highs and middle and lows sound on an equal footing.
In general, for its price category, which is about 1200 rubles, the sound is quite normal. Not great, but not terrible either. The main thing is not to compare it with the sound of good, expensive premium headphones.
From the unpleasant moments I can note that at a very high volume, the sound begins to crumble, sibilants become clearly audible, and if you twist the lows, a rumble and a kick effect appears, due to which familiar compositions begin to sound strange. The sound lacks transparency a bit. purity. He's a little dirty.
But, this is if you find fault. If you evaluate it without strong nit-picking, then for a listener inexperienced with all sorts of 'bangamiolufsen and boz', the sound will seem very, very good.
The optimal genre for these headphones is popular music.
conclusions
The headset is controversial. You shouldn't regard it as a serious tool for listening to serious music.
On the one hand, all sorts of 'Bladio' and 'best' producers have almost taught us that today a good sound can be purchased for little money. On the other hand, the choice is still not very large. This is the field where Remax is trying to play. It is difficult to say whether they have it or not. But they are moving in the right direction.
A budget product with a good, albeit secondary design and very decent workmanship.
I can recommend this model as a gift to a person inexperienced in sound, not suffering from audiophilia. In this role, the headset will have to go to court and will suit you in all respects. If the recipient of the gift hears sand and sibilants in each composition and through any headphones, as well as if his audio cable is on mahogany stands, then these headphones should definitely not be given to such a person.
