I would like to talk with you about a few main cameras in smartphones, because for me personally it is interesting: manufacturers are more and more trying to stand out with cameras (for example, HTC and DxOMark), emphasize all the coolness of the optics or module.
I don’t know about you, but I noticed that, despite the park of cool optics for my Sony NEX-5, I almost stopped shooting with it. And the point is not even that a smartphone is more convenient, faster (always at hand) and you can immediately publish photos on social networks, but that smartphones now have two cameras that allow you to nicely blur the background, like on DSLRs. Moreover, the blur range is easily adjustable both before and after shooting.
Of course, you say, all this pampering, bokeh is unnatural, of poor quality. And you will be right: it is so. Again I have to resort to statistics (at least, my own): almost 100% of photos 'go' to social networks, in my case – WhatsApp and Twitter. And there, as you know, the quality of the photos does not really matter, since the frames are of low resolution, and, as a rule, all this can be seen on the screens of phones: it's good if you have a device with QHD resolution …
Actually, why am I. Besides, it is extremely difficult to see the flaws of blurring the background, uneven antialiasing and other 'defects' of the frame. As a result, we get an original frame with a beautiful bokeh and clipping of unnecessary objects.
Unfortunately, there was no experience of 'talking' with the Apple iPhone 7 Plus, but as far as I know, you cannot adjust the degree of blurring of the background, it is also difficult to photograph objects located on distance of more than two meters. But almost all devices on Android with two cameras allow you to take shots at a distance of 30 cm to 5 meters.
Below is a photo of a portrait of my friend. In the first frame, the blur is equal to the aperture f = 1.4.
Second photo f = 5.
Third photo without using an artificial diaphragm. Agree, the frame looks simple and flat.
Other examples using two cameras (Huawei P9 Plus and Honor 8 Pro).
