Last week we talked about the importance of the SIM card as a kind of universal key to many remote services. Commentators for that post wrote that it is safest to keep a SIM card with the number to which all your passwords are attached in a simple phone. Let's discuss how many of you do this?
Before moving on to today's gatherings, I would like to apologize to our readers. In my last Friday column, I was overly emotional about how the bank and the operator could not help me with the difficulties that arose after losing my SIM card. Of course, it was not their fault in the loss of the card, it was a problem that arose exclusively because of myself.
In the comments to Friday's column, many of you noted that a universal way to protect yourself from such situations is to keep the SIM card, which all logins and passwords are tied to, in an additional simple phone. Issue price – 500-1000 rubles,
Of course, I also thought about a similar option at one time. Considering that now a huge number of services are protected by short SMS codes, including personal accounts of banks, this seems to be a reasonable decision. However, let's pretend I did it. As a result, I will have to carry an additional phone with me on any journey, you never know, if I suddenly need to make an urgent transfer, quickly see an SMS statement from the bank, or track in time that the money was debited from the card without my knowledge. Of course, all this is more convenient to do on your main smartphone.
The mobile number is really becoming more and more important in the modern world, however, I see the solution to the problem in reducing its authorization functions, and not in rearranging the SIM card into a regular phone.
And I was also curious, how many of you, dear readers, use a simple separate phone to receive bank messages, short authorization codes and other messages? This solution seems very inconvenient to me.
