Smart devices – using smart devices

Based on materials from blog.htc.com

Of course, you've heard conversations about how our phones make us dumber. Confirmation of this was searched for (and continue to look for) quite respectable institutions around the world literally from the moment when smartphones became popular. And what can we say, so far the results are mixed. On the one hand, our phone habits affect concentration and memory, and on the other, we benefit from easy access to a wealth of information.

Regardless of what research says, smartphones are penetrating deeply into our lives today, and this is unlikely to change anytime soon. So, instead of lamenting how the miracles of progress can harm us, let's look at it from the other side. If you are using your phone the best way for you, it can be very helpful. A smart device is quite capable of making you a little smarter. Here are some ideas on how this is possible.

Smart devices - we use smart

Learn new

We have opened up unprecedented access to any kind of information on countless topics. What's more, online learning is also booming, and you can take courses in any subject you've been interested in for very little money. Want to get more out of your smartphone? Take it and start learning. Fortunately, there are a huge number of applications that can help with this.

Use your energy for better purposes

One of the best features of a smartphone is the ability to create and save notes, work with the calendar, plan – that is, become more efficient. By taking advantage of this advantage, you can spend your efforts on goals that are more important to you. Even little things like using the timer on your smartphone's clock will help you customize your work cycle, which means you can concentrate better. And creating to-do lists and the like will free your mind for immediate tasks – those that require immediate attention.

Customization, customization, customization

Notifications. You already know what will follow next … A splash of joy at the sight of a new message in Facebook or Instagram is cool, but here's an endless series of notifications about what can wait (and it really can !) Is a lot more distracting than you think.

When you download new applications, take the time to go to the notification settings in the menu immediately after installation and configure notifications in the most convenient way. For many of us, all we need is text messages and mail. Therefore, each time it makes sense to think – is it worth it that you waste your precious time?

Don't forget about sleep

Many of us do not part with smartphones even when we sleep. Yes, this aimless wandering on social media can be great for relaxing. But it's also well known that working with device screens (including phones and tablets) shortly before bed can affect our sleep. In addition, we tend to grab our phones even when we wake up in the middle of the night.

Try an experiment. During the week, try to leave your phone alone at least half an hour before going to bed – let it lie outside the bedroom. Observe the sensations that arise during this week, and as it passes, see if your sleep has improved during this time. Finding a specific watch-without-a-smartphone for yourself will help you set up ahead of time.

And it's also worth downloading an app like Twilight, which after a while starts filtering out the blue spectrum light (the most harmful for sleep).

Smartphones aside!

We at HTC love phones, but everything has its time and place. Research says that even the phone in sight is a distraction, no matter if notifications are flashing on it. And when it's really time to work, or be with a loved one, or dive into an excellent book – smartphone aside! Throw it away – in a drawer, in a bag, in a briefcase – let it stay there. It will be difficult at first, and it will be even more distracting than if the device was in plain sight. But you will be more involved in what you are doing.

It is banal, you say, all this is already known. However, how smart are you at using your smart device? Are you following the above tips – at least some? Or are you ready to share yours? Welcome to comments.
