If you have been reading my articles on MR, in LJ or on other sites for a long time, you probably know that I really love Sony equipment and try to keep track of all sorts of interesting news. Fortunately, despite the obvious difficulties, there are enough interesting gizmos. The Glass Sound Speaker, a glass speaker recently announced at CES, began selling in Japan just the other day. The cost is great, $ 630, but the thing is also unique. Let's get acquainted. But, first, a small caveat – and in this new speaker Sony used their old practices. Once upon a time, about eight years ago, a Sountina column was sold in Russian Sonystyle, it cost 400,000 rubles.
A portable speaker is able to literally fill the entire room with sound; in a glass tube there is an LED light bulb (or bulbs), like a candle. Below is the speaker – pay attention to the specially shaped case. Apparently, this is necessary for the propagation of sound waves around the speaker.

Of course, I would like to listen, the video is very beautiful, but incomprehensible – there is no information about the internal structure and so on. The column is part of the Life Space UX ecosystem, various home gadgets with a twist – the device really fits perfectly into a variety of life scenarios.
Connection is made using Bluetooth. If the column is sold with us, I will definitely do a test.
Finally – a photo by Sountina. A mysterious thing from outer space.
