An example of a good and free movie game that was created with attention to the details of the original.

The release of every major film or TV series is accompanied by a PR campaign. Sometimes it includes creating a game based on motives, most often for mobile devices. For computers, games are harder, longer and more expensive. It is easier to make a so-called 'farm', where you need to build a city, collect crystals, and each action is accompanied by a long wait. Those who don't want to wait buys accelerators for real money.

Less often, good projects are made based on films. So, for example, it was with the second season of the TV series 'Stranger Things' and the game of the same name Stranger Things: The Game.

Its creation was fully sponsored by Netflix, so the game is distributed free of charge, there are no ads or in-game purchases. Most importantly, it is fun to play.

Another mobile based game that I liked is South Park: Phone Destroyer. It was created in support of two projects at once: the release of the 21st season of the animated series 'South Park' and the PC and console game South Park: The Fractured But Whole, although it has almost nothing to do with them, except for the characters and the city itself.

The new South Park mobile game uses the core mechanic of Clash Royale – a strategy game in which characters are summoned to the battlefield with cards. It's easier to describe as a mixture of Hearthstone and Plants vs Zombies. Let's talk about everything in order.

Gameplay

Unlike Clash Royale, SP: Phone Destroyer has not only multiplayer, but also a storyline for playing alone against bots. Although the game does not work without the Internet.

First you need to create a character. The player is provided with a wide range of appearance settings: you can change the skin tone, the shape of the eyes and mouth, hairstyle, mustache, beard, wear glasses and much more. This process takes place simultaneously with the loading of additional game files so that you do not get bored – an interesting solution.

Then the player enters the city, which is divided into several episodes. Each episode has five levels with a long battlefield. During the battle, the main character appears, who, using his smartphone, selects cards with characters to summon them to the battlefield. There are four types of cards: warrior, marksman, tank and magic. But each card has its own characteristics, features and cost. A certain amount of energy is spent on calling a character, which is replenished during the game.

The success of the fight consists of a competent alignment of their forces and the timely use of cards.

For example, if all the characters are collected in one pile, then they can be quickly destroyed with one bomb. Therefore, it is better to use air attacks against enemies with throwing weapons of mass destruction.

After completing the first episode, access to multiplayer will open. Fights with other players on the Internet take place in the same way, only on a small field, divided in half. Perhaps this mode is much more interesting, because fighting the computer is too easy.

As you progress through the story missions and battles with other players, new cards will appear in stock. The success of the battle also depends on the balance of the cards in the deck. If you choose a set of only shooters, then the enemy will easily destroy them with magic and launch their warriors.

Graphic arts

The game has carefully transferred the style of the main animated series to the screens of mobile devices. The scrupulousness of the developers is immediately noticeable when working out the details. They managed not to lose all the craziness and originality of the series.

So, for example, the player is sometimes called by other characters of the series, this is served by simulating the interface of a video call in FaceTime. And the rest of the characters communicate with each other in messengers and notifications with messages pop up during the game. It looks funny.

Even such a trifle as opening a new set of cards is done with nice animation.

And you can find a lot of such little things. There are also many references to some events and characters from the TV series 'South Park', but to notice them, you need to be careful.

Recommend

SP: Phone Destroyer I liked not for the gameplay, it does not stand out from the same Clash Royale. The game stands out for its detail and respect for the original series. It is rare to find such an attitude towards drawing characters, locations and interface elements in mobile games.

I am sure that I will not play it for a long time, but I have almost completed all the tasks. So if you love South Park then be sure to try the new game.
