Summer travel in 2G

It’s silly to stay at home in the summer. Even if there are only two or three days off, you need to use them effectively. Some people prefer a walk in the park, but isn't it more interesting to put on hiking boots and delve into the impenetrable thickets? I want to tell you about this experience.

It all started with the fact that a friend of mine called and began the conversation with the words: 'I'm tired of everything, let's go to nature.' There was so much optimism in his voice, so much joy and anticipation of imminent freedom that it was impossible to refuse. It is for the feeling of freedom that people abandon everything and go headlong to the ends of the Earth, to hunt, fish or just go on a hike. Simple paths for city dudes, so the route was chosen impossible from the point of view of Yandex and Google maps. The Leningrad Region is wide and immense, and wild nature begins immediately after the conventional suburb. The starting point is in the village of Lopukhinka, a stop for a day at the intersection of the Chernaya and Lopukhinka rivers (for rest) and an exit to the village of Tamengont. Respectively 15 km + 15 km. With such long crossings off-road, and often just through the forest, weight is of paramount importance. Therefore, it was taken with me:

Filter nozzle on a bottle Aquaphor station wagon (so as not to carry water)

3 or 4 person trekking tent

Cheapest foldable Chinese fishing rod (to pull roach in rivers)

The hardest part is food.

Things have been collected, which means it's time to go! Some people argue that walking on flooded roads is best in boots – don't trust them guys. Jumping over bumps is much more fun, and then you have to dry your socks and shoes anyway. Again, the legs are constantly breathing and less tired.

In the evening we passed a ford up to the waist in water, in the morning they threw a fishing rod into it?

The area we were walking through represents the front edge of the clash between the Nazi Army Group North and the Oranienbaum fortified area. Here, back in 1941, heroic Soviet sailors, soldiers and officers (there were mainly parts of the fleet) stopped the very steel rink of the Wehrmacht, which went through all of Europe like a hot knife through butter. Needless to say, all the way we were accompanied by numerous memorials, bomb craters and rusty iron in the ground?

However, this is a completely different story, if there is a desire, I can tell it separately, it is the world standard of military skill shown by everyone, from the rank and file to the command. Now I want to talk about something else and push my head against two world (I'm not afraid of this word) search engines, Yandex and Google. It so happened that a piece of paper, on which there was a bus schedule from Tamengont (final point), went to kindling. And buses do not run often and it is advisable to know their schedule in advance. It was then that an incident occurred – we found ourselves exactly between two cell towers, but the distance to them allowed us to use communication only in 2G mode. The question arose – how to find out the bus schedule?

Google is great in everything, but it turned out to be impossible to use it at that speed, links to sites were loaded, but not a single page could be loaded.

But Yandex is very pleased! Taking data from the GPS receiver, smart search brought out the finished result among links to sites. As a result, it turned out to go on a hike without spending a long time at the bus stop, the saved time was spent lying in the tent.

I would like to ask advanced travelers, do you have a special set of applications for 2G internet? So that, lazily chewing potatoes baked in the ashes of a fire, read the news, find out the weather, or easily upload a photo (albeit for a long time) to a social network?
