Ten facts from history Lenovo

We fill a possible information vacuum and get acquainted with significant milestones in the history of a Chinese company.

lenovo

  1. The company Lenovo was established in 1984 in Beijing. At the helm of the company was an enterprising businessman Lew Chuanzhi, who in 1988 decided to move the company to Hong Kong to expand its staff. The starting capital was 200,000 yuan, which in terms of our money is a little less than two million rubles.
  2. Initially the company was called Legend, but in April 2003 the company officially announced the name change to Lenovo, which could hint to users that they are constantly looking for innovation. This step was due to the impossibility of using the name Legend, the patent for it was already present in the West.
  3. The official date of foundation is considered the first of November, it was on this day in 1984 that a meeting of all employees took place, of which there were eleven at that time, not counting the creator. At that time, the company had fairly strong ties with the local academy of sciences and therefore the overwhelming number of employees worked for this structure, they were scientists.
  4. The first product Lenovo was supposed to be TVs, but something went wrong, and therefore the company decided to learn some more and not take on such things yet. The scientists in the lineup understood the technical part, but were completely lost when it came to marketing. The first successful product of the Chinese was a board that helped computers based on IBM to decode and recognize the Chinese script.
  5. Throughout its history Lenovo, I have often resorted to such a technique of enrichment and winding up the rating, such as buying entire companies or cooperating with other people. Among the major acquisitions and collaborations, one can single out such companies as: IBM, NEC, Medion, Stoneware, CCE, Nutanix, Motorola. Perhaps the most striking episode is the purchase of assets, which subsequently helped Lenovo get to the level of sales the company needed.
  6. Due to the record increase in sales and quite presentable results Lenovo, it developed rather quickly in its homeland, the company itself reached a value of 45 billion dollars.
  7. However, the company realized the need to go outside the home country. Many competitors Lenovo have already taken appropriate steps, probing the ground. It was at this moment that it happened that the name Legend was changed to the one we were used to Lenovo. The company acquired Moto Mobility and, with the help of new devices, wants to force the Western market, if not to bend under them, then make them reckon. Wait and see.
  8. At this stage Lenovo is producing an incredible number of different devices. There are laptops, PCs, server solutions, smartphones, tablets, smart watches, a lot of things, and in general, you can find something for yourself in any case.
  9. Lenovo now includes Motorola Mobility, which develops new smartphones and Zuk, whose activities are limited to relatively budget smartphones and their accessories. A joint division with EMC is responsible for software development and sales.
  10. Development vector. Apparently, Lenovo is planning a confident attack on the shelves of Europe and the USA, some products with IFA are worth a lot. In many ways, the company is trying to experiment and stay ahead of competitors in terms of innovation policy, presenting all new unique gadgets, be it smartwatches or phablets. A new serious player has come close to the market leaders, I hope we will be able to see some changes in the top three.
