Victims of a high-capacity battery

Hello everyone, today I propose to remember what we usually sacrifice for more battery life. Below I will list the main characteristics that deteriorate if the manufacturer shows a significant increase in battery capacity.

Dimensions and weight

If we talk about devices with a capacious battery, then the first characteristics that are sacrificed are, of course, dimensions and weight. Suffice it to recall the massive Asus ZenFone Max, the device was very long, thick and wide. But it worked amazingly long on a single charge.

Display

Now this is no longer so relevant, but two or three years ago, manufacturers often offered mediocre screens in smartphones with good batteries, here I remember Philips most of all with their many models.

Performance

Often inexpensive models are used as a chipset, for example, Qualcomm 400th generation or budget versions MediaTek. The decrease in performance in such devices strongly depends on the specific device, somewhere there are no problems with optimization, somewhere on the contrary, everything slows down.

Nothing?

And there are good balanced devices in which they were able to maintain a balance between a capacious battery and other parameters. Of the ones I tested, the Lenovo Zuk and Vibe P1 come to mind right off the bat: fast, with good displays and long battery life. And Zuk worked for Cyanogen at all!

Another example is Meizu M3 Note, the Chinese were also able to find a fine line when other characteristics are not inferior to a large battery.

Xiaomi also keeps up with their Redmi Note 4, which I am currently testing. In terms of specs, it resembles the M3 Note, but with a number of distinctive features, however, we'll talk about it in a separate review.

What else?

External accumulators and replaceable batteries immediately come to mind, but the first option is frankly inconvenient, and the second is now less common. However, here I will also include additional battery cases that now exist for the Moto Z line, the Galaxy S7 has and are available for iPhones.

Conclusion

I like that now there are many good devices on the market with a 4000 mAh battery, in these models other characteristics are not sacrificed, and are also at the appropriate level. Top-end models achieve similar battery life results with a lower capacity, but thanks to optimization. And, of course, QuickCharge saves a lot now, allowing you to get an almost fully charged smartphone in an hour on charge.

By the way, do you have any requirements for the battery, dear readers? Or do you adhere to the principle 'the day works, and thank God'?
