The company notes that the more often smartphone owners use Android 9, the faster he learns and adapts to them. He can, as the developers assure, predict the next action almost before the user has time to think about it, use the battery charge for those applications that are most needed and help stop using the phone by the end of the day.

In Android 9 there is an adaptive power consumption function, which takes into account which applications the user uses most often and spends battery power on them first, and adaptive brightness – this function automatically adjusts the screen brightness depending on user habits and what is happening around.

Additionally, Android 9 helps you get things done faster with Actions in Apps, which predicts user intent and suggests next action on your phone screen. For example, if it's Tuesday morning and the user is about to drive to work, they will see an offer to get directions to work in Google Maps or continue listening to an audiobook in Google Play Books. And when he leaves work and puts on his headphones, he can choose between calling his mom and starting his favorite playlist.

In the fall, it is also planned to supplement actions in applications with cards with information from applications, which will appear exactly when the user needs it.

In addition, Android 9 introduces a new navigation system with a home button. Using the home button, you can switch to Browse mode, where a full-screen preview of recently used applications will appear.

Also on Android P there will be updated Quick Settings – an improved way of creating and editing screenshots, as well as simplified control over the sound volume, a more convenient notification control panel.

Other innovations are the presence of a new control panel, which shows how the device is used, an application timer, which allows you to limit the use of an application (when the time expires, the application icon on the main screen turns gray), a new Do not disturb mode, in which all visual notifications are turned off as well as the Rest function. It includes night mode and do not disturb mode, and also dims the screen when it's time to go to bed.

Pixel phones have already started updating automatically to Android 9. Devices that supported the beta testing program Android P – such as Sony Mobile, Xiaomi, HMD Global, Oppo , Vivo, OnePlus and Essential, and Android One devices will receive the update before the end of fall. Google also says it is working with a number of other partners to launch or upgrade systems to Android 9 this year.
