The company Huawei has introduced a new automatic image stabilization technology that uses the power of artificial intelligence to capture high quality photos in low light – AIS. With the advent of this technology, according to the Chinese manufacturer, owners of smartphones Honor 10 can forget about the tripod and take photos even at night and in dark rooms.
The system update will be available for download to owners of flagships Honor 10 starting August 3. In addition to AI Image Stabilization (AIS) for advanced shooting in challenging environments, it will include GPU Turbo graphics acceleration technology. Together with the system update on August 3, sales of the smartphone Honor 10 in flickering green with 64 GB of internal memory will start in Russia. The smartphone will be available on the manufacturer's website and in partner stores. Its cost is 26,990 rubles.
As noted in the company, unlike traditional technologies for image stabilization and elimination of the effect of 'shaking hands', AIS uses the computing power of the processor, continuously analyzing the data entering the camera matrix. Using machine learning algorithms, AIS compares frames, matches the edges of images, and provides the best effect even with long exposures – up to six seconds.
AIS technology evaluates the movement of the smartphone for 0.2 seconds to determine the position of the camera with 98% accuracy. Next, an intelligent algorithm selects a specific scene for shooting – 'night sky', 'in a store', etc., choosing the best shutter speed, aperture and framing for each case.
While the user presses the button, the AIS smartphone takes a large number of frames with different parameters. The device's processor processes up to 24 billion bits of data to select the best shots and blend them if necessary, providing a slow shutter effect like shooting with a tripod. The intelligent system processes each section of the frame separately, and also removes noise using data from thousands of frames at once.
AIS shooting avoids blow-out at slow shutter speeds while providing improved contrast settings. As a result, the user gets photos without blur, with clear details, regardless of the lighting level and shooting conditions.
The first to get access to AIS will be the participants of the initiative 'Honor C.E.O.', which opens a beta testing program for adepts Honor and popular bloggers involved in AI photography. Later, AIS enabled firmware update is planned for all smartphones Honor 10.
