Based on materials from www.techradar.com
We do not know anything about the new device from HTC, except that it will be released soon and its code name is Hima. But that doesn't mean we can't predict if it will be the best Android smartphone in 2015.
Here are the specs of the new creation HTC under discussion: QHD screen, Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB of RAM, water resistant case, more megapixels in the camera – in general, one of the most 'packed' phones on the market is expected in terms of features. The company can only name the final name of the future flagship, which will cost no less than $ 649.
release date
HTC sent out invitations to their MWC 2015 event in Barcelona on March 1st. This is where the company is most likely to present its new flagship.
Does the inscription on the invitation hint at the name of the smartphone? However, the latest rumors suggest that it will be just HTC One M9, and even the company inadvertently confirmed this version. So maybe the invitation is about a new camera mode?
Characteristics
The latest rumors about the characteristics of the new flagship seem to be quite adequate. So, it will have an eight-core Snapdragon 810 processor (according to recent benchmarks, it has a 64.5% improvement over the previous Snapdragon 805 chipset).
This coincides with information from Upleaks, according to which the smartphone will have 3 GB of RAM and an eight-core 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor with four cores at 2.0 GHz and four at 1.5 GHz. Switching between them to perform different tasks will save battery power on less power-hungry tasks.
More features from Upleaks: 5-inch 1080p display, 20.7 MP main camera, 4 MP front camera, 2849 mAh battery and options with 32 and 64 GB of memory plus support for memory cards.
The display is likely similar to what @LlabTooFeR tweeted, presumably one of the wallpapers for the new flagship. For those looking forward to a QHD screen, it may seem like a disappointment, but well, that's an honest price to pay for the longer battery life.
Thanks to Snapdragon 810, you can count on the next generation of data transmission: voice transmission in LTE networks, increased channel width, LTE Category 6 (up to 300 Mbps down and up to 50 Mbps up).
Obviously HTC One M9 will have Android version 5.0.2 with its own Sense shell version 7.0.
A source close to HTC clarified information on the camera. For the main camera, a 20 MP module will be used, for the front camera – Ultrapixel technology (4 MP, according to unconfirmed reports).
The 20MP version was confirmed after a leaked photo apparently taken with the M9, showing 16: 9, 20MP specs.
The source continues to claim that the audio portion HTC of the One M9 (Hima) will include Dolby 5.1 technology.
A tweet from @ LlabTooFeR confirms this information, adding that it will be a Toshiba T4KA7 sensor (1 / 2.4-inch matrix, 1.12 μm pixel size).
GforGames cites the rumor that the M9 will likely have a processor from MediaTek than from Qualcomm, but if this is the case, then in the version for China and a number of other markets, and not for the whole world. And it would be surprising if it was possible for all devices – chipsets from MediaTek are not as powerful, although they are cheaper, and if we can talk about them, then only for the markets of developing countries.
According to @LlabTooFeR, the HTC One M9 will use the Broadcom BCM4356 wireless module, the same as the Nexus 6, the device will support Wi-Fi 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac and Bluetooth 4.1 which, in theory, gives better Wi-Fi performance than HTC One M8.
Speaking of the battery, we will most likely only see a 2840mAh battery, but in terms of power consumption, this is an improved version over its predecessor, considering a more efficient processor and rumors of a 5-inch 1080p display instead of going to QHD.
Design HTC One M9
With the same screen size as the M8, the M9 is expected to measure 144.3 x 69.4 x 9.56mm, making it shorter but thicker than its predecessor at 146.4 x 70.6 x 9.4mm.
As far as screen size is concerned, there are rumors of a 5-inch and 5.5-inch screen, which suggests that HTC will prefer the 5.2-inch middle ground. There are even photos to support this from Nowhereelse.fr that supposedly showcase this display.
Earlier, you could have heard of the 5.2-inch screen HTC One M9 Plus, which, together with an image from @evleaks showing two different versions of the device, suggests that the 5.2-inch version will be Plus, while the regular M9 will get 5-inch screen.
We also have the first opportunity to see the M9 with our own eyes. Nowhereelse.fr received photos of the alleged prototype: on them, the device looks very similar to the M8 or even to the original HTC One, which indicates the company's commitment to its design principles.
On the front, we see the speakers above and below the screen, and on the back, a curved metal body with a square camera bezel with dual flash like the M8, although the photo slice does not reveal if there is a second sensor.
It is difficult to say anything about how relevant information is given by photographs. They do not look fake, they do not coincide with the existing devices from HTC and the photo of the M8 prototype may just as well be.
The fact that these are not fake photos is also evidenced by the emerging golden version in the same design, and here we see the whole device – there is no dual camera.
Accessories
Upleaks also published rumors about which accessories will be released with the new flagship.
This is the HTC DotView 2 case, an improved version of the M8 case that displays notifications and other information in a 'dotted' retro style while the phone is in sleep mode. The new model is numbered HC M231 / 232 and may be available in more colors than the previous one.
Also, the range of accessories will obviously include a protective case that converts into a stand for easy viewing of videos, as well as a waterproof case made according to the IP 68 standard.
If you want to dive with the new flagship, waterproof headphones will come in handy, and if not, then the Max 500 headphones.
The output of the audio system HTC BoomBass with speakers with Wi-Fi support and screen protection is also being discussed.
