LG introduced a new smartphone with five cameras – LG V40 ThinQ

South Korean company LG Electronics has unveiled its latest premium five-camera smartphone, which it says sets a new standard for mobile photography. As noted by the manufacturer, the LG V40 ThinQ is an improved model of the popular V-series, providing high quality when creating and playing multimedia content.

The LG V40 ThinQ continues the V-Series design philosophy. The smartphone features an improved 6.4-inch FullVision OLED display with thinner bezels than the previous model. The device is equipped with a top processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB or 128 GB of internal memory.

LG claims that it has thoroughly worked out the functionality of the LG V40 ThinQ, and introduced a really wide range of camera options. The main module consists of three cameras: 16-megapixel with a super-wide-angle lens, 12-megapixel with a standard lens and 12-megapixel with a telephoto lens. Three cameras allow amateur photographers to create different shots without changing their position in relation to the subject. The 107-degree super-wide-angle lens captures large objects against a large-scale background, while the telephoto lens with double optical zoom (or the wide-angle lens with 3.2x zoom) captures clear images from a distance without losing quality. The Triple Shot function combines images captured by each camera into a short video that can be easily shared with others.

The front module includes a 5MP wide-angle camera and an 8MP standard lens camera, which together create the perfect bokeh effect, while the amount of background blur can be adjusted using a slider on the screen. Other features allow selfie lovers to further personalize their photos with lighting and other special effects.

Compared to the smartphone LG V30, the pixel size of the main camera sensor LG of the V40 ThinQ has been improved by 40% and increased from 1 μm to 1.4 μm, while the sensor itself is increased by 18 %. In addition, the main camera's f / 1.5 aperture provides a greater degree of depth of field. In addition, the shutter time is cut in half and the burst mode is significantly faster compared to the LG V30.

Phase detection autofocus reduces autofocus time by 50%, compared to the industry average. Advanced HDR analyzes and adjusts exposure settings to create perfectly-lit shots, eliminating over- or underexposed images. The camera continuously checks for sharpness until the shutter button is released to ensure perfect focus in all shots.

Thanks to the enhancements, the smartphone camera LG of the V40 ThinQ is more powerful and more intuitive, with improved color reproduction, compositional capabilities, white balance and shutter speed. The camera's new AI Composition function connects to the smartphone's smart system to frame, capture and recommend alternative shots to the one already taken by the user. AI Auto White Balance (AI AWB) adjusts the color temperature under various lighting conditions, while AI Shutter selects the appropriate shutter speed, especially useful when shooting fast-moving subjects.

Other functionalities include Cine Shot, 3D Light Effect, Makeup Pro, Custom Backdrop, My Avatar and AR Emoji.

LG The V40 ThinQ is the company's first smartphone to feature audio capabilities in partnership with Meridian. The 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad D / A converter provides balanced sound that faithfully reproduces the quality of the original recording. Boombox Speaker, originally introduced in the smartphone LG G7 ThinQ, doubles the bass of regular smartphone speakers by using the interior of the device as a resonator. When placed on a hard surface or empty box, the smartphone LG the V40 ThinQ boosts bass even more.

Release date, pricing and additional information about the smartphone LG V40 ThinQ will be announced in each country separately as it goes on sale.
