Google has decided to share technical details regarding its new version Android 7.1 Nougat, which is a patch version Android 7.0, which includes a number of new functionalities for end users and developers – from support of the virtual helmet reality Daydream VR and ending with shortcuts of applications (App shortcuts) and the ability to insert pictures directly from the virtual keyboard.
Developer version – Android 7.1 Developer Preview, as promised by Google, will be available by the end of this month, which will be distributed through the Android Beta program.
Among the innovations of the new version Android the following is noted:
Application shortcuts API: add pop-up key actions of the program directly from the shortcut of its launch – up to 5 pieces (static or dynamic)
- Round icon support for apps, ensuring a consistent look and feel with newer Pixel devices
- Advanced live wallpaper metadata
- Ability to insert images directly from the virtual keyboard
- Storage Manage Intent – the application gives the user access to a new setup screen to clean up unused files and free up space on the device
- New telephony settings.
Phase 1 Android 7.1 Developer Preview will be available for Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P and Pixel C smartphones. Final version Android 7.1 Nougat will be released in early December.
