The Japanese company Onkyo and its subsidiary Pioneer have unveiled a new model of a compact Hi-End audio player – the XDP-100R, running an operating system Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and featuring support for the new high-resolution audio format MQA (Meridian Quality Authenticated) from Meridian Audi o.
The presented novelty reproduces FLAC and WAV files with a resolution of 384 kHz / 24 bit, as well as DSD files with a sampling frequency of up to 11.2 MHz. In addition, the Pioneer XDP-100R, according to the manufacturer, is the first player to support the new Lossless MQA format, providing comparable sound quality to the FLAC format, but with significant savings in disk space.
The Pioneer XDP-100R features a 4.7-inch HD touchscreen display, access to the online Google Play store, and popular music streaming services such as TIDAL, Spotify or Deeezer. There is also space for 32 GB of internal memory and two slots for microSD memory cards (up to 128 GB for each slot), support Bluetooth of the apt-X codec, wireless Wi-Fi networks, Wi-Fi Direct and DLNA technologies as well as a standard 3.5mm audio jack, micro-USB jack with USB-OTG and six built-in sound tuning tools (Adjustment Lock, Digital Filter, Up-sampling up to 384 kHz, Real-time conversion of DSD format up to 5.6 MHz, High-fidelity equalizer, Club Sound Boost) and built-in speakers.
With a dedicated PC application – 'X-DAP Link', all player settings can be changed from a PC, including equalizer and playlists.
