The Russian Embassy in Beijing hosted the first official presentation of the third generation of the YotaPhone smartphone with two screens manufactured by the Russian company Yota Devices.
According to the company, the development of a new generation smartphone took 10 months. In general, over 100 technical specialists from Russia and China took part in the process of creating the phone.
The phone has two modifications – 64 and 128 GB, and a premium version of the smartphone will also be released. Compared to the previous generation of the smartphone, the new product now runs under the operating system Android 7 Nougat, it provides for the use of two SIM cards, has a Samsung Super front screen AMOLED with a diagonal of 5.5 inches and 5.2 rear E-Ink screen. The amount of RAM has doubled to 4 GB, and the battery capacity has been increased to 3300 mAh.
The smartphone has two cameras with increased aperture: the resolution of the front camera is 13 MP, the rear one is 12 MP. An additional sensor is installed on the back of the smartphone, which is designed to help more accurately determine which screen the user wants to unlock. On the front side, there is a fingerprint scanner that simplifies user identification and increases security.
First, the phone will be sold in China, then it will appear in other countries, including Russia. In Asia, the new smartphone was named YOTA3, in Russia and in other markets, the company plans to use the YotaPhone 3 brand.
YOTA3 has several pre-installed e-book readers and a carefully selected library of classic and modern literature; the size of the pre-installed library is different for each of the smartphone modifications. The phone has a wide range of options for reading e-books, for which the company entered into several strategic agreements at once with the most popular applications for reading books online in China:
- China Reading (one of China's largest online reading platform)
- iReader (one of the most reputable online libraries)
- Lebook (mobile online reading app from JD)
- Migu (China's largest online reading platform)
In addition, as part of the presentation, the company signed strategic cooperation agreements with China's largest retailer JD and distributor AISIDI. Commercial sales of the phone will start in September 2017: on September 5, a pre-order for the premium version of YOTA3 will open on JD.com, from September 18, all modifications of the smartphone will be available for purchase here, then YOTA3 will go on sale in offline retail.
