The rumors were confirmed and the beta version of the app Apple Music became available on Google Play. We understand what is good and what is bad in it.
First of all, I would like to remind you that we have a separate article dedicated to Apple Music from Sergey Kuzmin, who would like to get information about the service itself, I recommend that you familiarize yourself with it.
In short, this service creates special playlists based on your taste preferences and displays them in a large list along with author's comments. Also, for the duration of your subscription, you have access to the entire iTunes library for free.
First turn on
The start screen pleases us with good news about three months of free subscription for your device. But do not rush to rejoice: if you have already used these three months earlier on your iOS / OS X device, then you will have to pay for the subscription.
And here you begin to understand why the service is currently in beta. I was unable to pay for the subscription from my mobile device, the system did not want to recognize the bank card. An interesting fact: you cannot pay for Apple Music through your Google account, the transaction is carried out using Apple ID, which is understandable, why lose some of the profit?
The design of the app resembles a trade-off between Material Design and the branding of iOS 7 / OS X Yosemite, but looks good overall. The application is divided into several tabs, let's talk about them in more detail.
For you. A beautifully designed tab with specially selected playlists for you. Clicking on a playlist opens its full list of songs, here you can also add it to your favorites or download it for offline viewing.
You can download recommended playlists for offline listening
New. Here are the new items from iTunes, each song is provided with a detailed description.
Radio and Connect. The first tab contains popular free radio stations, and on the second, you can subscribe to the latest news about your favorite artists.
Playlists. To be honest, I have no need for the recommendation component of the service Apple Music, I just need a convenient tool for listening to my music already purchased from iTunes and sorted by my own playlists. Of course, there is an integration of your iTunes library into Google Music, but it does not always work correctly, I did not really want to use crutch applications for the same task, but here is such a gift – the exit Apple Music for Android. But bad luck, without a subscription to the service, you cannot listen to your own playlists, which is highly unfair. I own a Mac, but occasionally I use Android – my smartphone as my main device. I need to be able to natively sync my iTunes library with a Android smartphone and that's exactly what I expected from Apple Music, but without having to pay for a subscription. It is sad that the company did not implement such an approach.
My music. The last tab contains all your music from your iTunes library, you can sort it by artist, album or song. Any track, album or playlist can be downloaded for offline listening.
I suspect that by launching Apple Music on Android, the company was not pursuing an easier existence for Mac owners using Android – a smartphone, but a desire to enter a new market and get a new audience. Plus, for many it will be a great opportunity to get acquainted with the service, after all iPhone or Mac, not everyone has.
Personally, I didn't really like the recommendations Apple Music, but I heard many positive reviews about the service from a number of friends and acquaintances. If so, why don't you give it a try? The main thing is not to forget to unsubscribe after three months if the application is not in demand.
P.S. Remember that the app is in beta, so don't expect it to work flawlessly.
