Game classics for Android and iOS

At the time of the platforms Windows PPC / CE and then Windows Mobile for communicators from time to time there were ports of cool PC games, very interesting, deep, addictive for many hours, or even days or weeks . Usually these were unofficial ports, but this did not make it less interesting to play such games. With the popularization of phones, and then smartphones, the mobile games market began to develop, which continues to this day. These toys are simple, quick, often allowing you to kill a couple of hours, but not more. 'Fast food' for the gaming world. Fortunately, from time to time for platforms Android and iOS quality ports of unforgettable computer classics come out: Max Payne, 'Siberia' and other toys. Yes, they are old, but they are still interesting to play. And if you indulge in memories, then five or six years ago one could only dream of this!

In this article, I want to briefly tell you what real serious games are for the platform Android.

Game classics for Android / iOS

Star Wars: KOTOR

Knight of the old Republic is a legendary third-person RPG set in the Star Wars universe – with a very interesting main storyline, as well as additional quests. As the game progresses, additional heroes join your character, each with their own problems and experiences, all this also translates into disputes and additional tasks. It will be very interesting to play SW: KOTOR if you love RPG genre. In the version of the game for Android, of course, not everything is smooth with the controls (after the keyboard and mouse for the PC), but in general you can get used to it. In addition, all battles in the game can be carried out in turn-based mode, where reaction speed is absolutely not important, therefore, even in the version with optimized for the touch screen, the KOTOR controls remain the same interesting game.

The only drawback for some is the game in English, and there is really a lot of text and conversations in KOTOR, not to mention the description of objects, characteristics of heroes and other things.

Syberia

A well-known and even probably legendary quest from Benoit Sokal, one of the most popular authors of graphic novels (comics) in Europe. Perhaps the game does not have the most exciting and interesting puzzles, and the overall plot may seem too linear, but 'Siberia' has its own unique charm. Largely thanks to the graphics (drawing of all locations, lots of details) and music, the game was remembered by players all over the world. For Android 'Siberia' is fully translated, including voice acting, so even if you've never played quests before, it's worth a try. At least to understand what point-and-click adventure games were like before.

Broken Sword

Another quest, or rather, a series of games in this genre. If 'Siberia' can be called legendary only at a stretch, then this definition fully fits the Broken Sword series. The game is a classic point-and-click adventure with hand-drawn graphics and episodic animation of the main characters and some objects. Due to the fact that the game is executed in 2D, even today it looks quite nice on smartphones with high resolution.

The version for Android retains the original voice acting, but the menu is translated into Russian, as well as the subtitles for all lines. Unfortunately, in the version for smartphones and tablets, Broken Sword was slightly redesigned, which made the game much easier and lost some of its charm. The fact is that in the new versions, the developers have added hints and markers to the zones available for interaction (this was not the case in the original game), so it is much easier to go through the updated version, and you cannot remove these markers.

Icewind Dale Enhanced Edition

A classic role-playing game in the setting of Dungeons and Dragons, which is to some extent an evolution of the Baldur's Gate line of games. By the way, both Baldur`s Gate are also available for Android, and because all three games are similar in control, use the same engine, I'll tell you a little about one of them, just Icewind Dale. In the game, you control six mercenaries, you can select one character and control him or the whole group at once, at the start you need to create each character, choosing a role, class, abilities and even history for him. In the future, as the game progresses, all the selected parameters will affect the course of events more than once. The highlight of Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale is the long, really interesting main story, as well as the complex but thoughtful system of character development and combat. Battles can be carried out in real time or in turn-based mode, the latter option is almost always preferable if you are not playing at the simplest difficulty level and are not somewhere at the starting location.

Both Baldur`s Gate in the Play Store are in English (both voice acting and translation), and for Icewind Dale there is a Russian language in the menu and for all texts, the voice acting is also left in the original, English.

Heroes of might and magic

What can I say? The port of the legendary game on tablets Android is not the best, in my opinion, because without addons, without a map editor and the ability to load new maps created for add-ons, without new patches and other things. On the other hand, this has been expected for so long that almost everything can be forgiven for the ported HoMM III, the main thing is that now you can play it on your tablet anywhere and anytime!

Naturally, I haven't covered all the really cool games ported to Android and iOS. There is also a whole series of GTA, each game from which sooner or later appears on smartphones and tablets, there is a chic Max Payne, which is not the easiest to control on a smartphone, but still. Separately, we can talk about games tailored for the nVidia Shield platform, yes, there are not many of them, but Half-Life 2 alone is worth something!

And what serious games for Android / iOS can you remember, dear readers? Perhaps these will not be ports from a PC, but projects created specifically for these platforms.
