New Year is one of the most important and long-awaited holidays. Some love him for a long weekend, others for the New Year's bustle and festive atmosphere, and someone loves to give and receive gifts. A selection of themed games and applications for the eve of the New Year has appeared on Google play, but, as we all know, similar sets are being created in the application store for Android anyway, it's very difficult to find something really sensible there. Just look at the best apps and games of the year according to Google.
In order to somehow restore justice, for you, dear readers, I have created my own small selection of 'New Year' applications. You should not take this material too seriously, it is very, very difficult to find something suitable for the holiday in Google play, it was created solely to create a festive mood and only have a small practical benefit.
We create a holiday atmosphere
At first I wanted to find some beautiful live wallpapers for your home screen for you, but alas, I managed to find only one more or less worthy application that I can recommend. I know that almost no one uses live wallpapers, they quite actively 'eat' the battery charge and RAM, but it's nice to see a beautiful and elegant Christmas tree when you turn on the smartphone screen, this will help create the atmosphere and spirit of the holiday. This application has the uncomplicated name 'New Year Live Wallpaper'. Only two themes are available in the free version: a Christmas tree glowing in different colors and a time counter until the New Year, in my opinion, there are quite enough of them, and they are quite beautiful.
I did not notice strong power consumption and performance degradation. The absence of annoying advertising banners in the application is definitely pleasing, you can only find a recommendation from other applications of this developer and an offer to purchase the full version for 100 rubles.
Other live wallpapers, in fact, pushed me away with this: some send advertising notifications, others show banners in full screen at the most inopportune moment – this infuriates me incredibly.
Congratulations to distant relatives
While searching for New Year's apps, I came across the excellent Touchnote service. With it, you can send a real greeting card letter anywhere in the world. I think getting a real letter with a photo of a loved one will be much more pleasant than a simple message via the Internet.
Payment is made using the built-in currency – loans, if you are going to send several postcards, then I highly advise you to buy loans in bulk – 5 loans cost 10 euros, and if you send only one, then 1 loan will cost you 3 euros, and two loans – 4.5 Euro. You can pay by credit card or PayPal. There are two types of postcards: simple and folding, the second is sent in an envelope. On a simple one, you can write a small congratulation of 35 characters under the photo and the reverse side, and on a folding one you can write a big congratulation inside, they will cost 1 and 2 credits, respectively. Do not pay attention that the service works in English, you can safely write your congratulations in Russian.
There are regular cards with white frames, as well as themed ones for various holidays (New Year, Christmas, March 8, etc.) Postcards are printed on glossy paper 11.4 x 15.2 cm with a density of 300 dpi, unfortunately there are no other sizes.
We buy products
There are a huge number of apps for making a shopping list, but I liked one service – 'Bring!'.
The application is as simple and easy to use as possible. You do not need to manually enter each item, you are looking for the product card that you need by category, if you need a certain amount of product, then you make a long press on the card and you can add '1 kg', '2 bottles', etc. In addition to groceries, there are other items you may need, from diapers to cigarettes. The whole 'salt' of the service is in the speed: on the way to the store, you click on the list of products and, when you find the desired product, click to remove it from the list. Everything is easy and simple.
You can create multiple lists for home, work, party, summer cottage, and so on. They can be shared with anyone, if the recipient does not have the 'Bring!' Service installed, he will receive an invitation to install it. One of the participants can send a notification that he went to the store and the others have a little time to change or add something to the list. If the product you need is not in the list, you can easily add your own through the search bar, only it will already be without an icon, only text.
The advantage of the service is that it is absolutely free and has no ads. There is one small drawback – the interface is completely in English, there is no big problem in this, if you cannot identify the product by the name, then you can easily understand it from the image.
Let's make children happy
If you have children of preschool age, then they are most likely already familiar with the 'talking' cat Tom, who repeats everything said in a funny voice and makes little kids madly happy.
The company-developer of the 'talking cat Tom' also has a 'talking Santa', he will quite pass for 'our' Santa Claus, he has a white beard, a red fur coat and felt boots. In the application, he also repeats everything said into the microphone of the device in a low bass voice, you can feed him with cookies and milk, create a postcard, but one animation seemed extremely inappropriate to me – he, sorry, takes off his pants so that you can write a congratulation on your underwear, something like a postcard comes out, and then save and send it to someone.
If your children love Tom the cat, then talking Santa will be able to please them during the New Year holidays.
Conclusion
I did not add games and applications that simply changed the design for the eve of the holiday, as many developers like to do in order to attract attention, and finding something 'New Year's' on Google Play is quite difficult, so the selection is rather small.
